New rider '10 Ninja 250r SE Updated 5/5

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and new to bikes in general. I picked up a '10 ninja special edition as my first bike about 2 weeks ago. Close to 600 miles so far, and I've done a synthetic oil change. I'm adding a slip on pipe, fender eliminator, and hopefully more to come. So far this sites been great for information.

Hello and Welcome Nate!! Be careful with the Sythetic oil change so early in your Ninjette's life. Can actually keep the engine from breaking in properly.... Up to you though!! Glad you found us!

Thanks and I try to be.

To everyone thanks for the warm welcome. I try to be as safe as possible and I note that usually stupid things happen for stupid reasons. I should also say I don't go out unless I'm fully geared from head to toe and I ride with a few people that are experienced. I should've also said that this is my first street bike. I've been behind the bars of a dirt bike a good portion of my life. I understand just how different it is now but I still love the joy of just the ride.

Hello Nate,

I just got the same bike as you on Friday. I'm looking for a fender eliminator for it. Mind telling me which one you purchased? Perhaps a link?

Thanks,

Natalie

There are quiet a few and all are pretty much cut meaning that you must mod (cut) part of the rear on the bike to make it fit correctly. Theres a thread on here, search for fender eliminator in the search bar, made by SHINTO which supposedly is no cut. I tried to order from him and it kept getting delayed so GL there. I will say if you can actually get it from him they look really nice. He also sells on ebay but id order by PMing here as you will get a good disscount. If your looking for something on the cheap mine actually doesnt have one in the pictures above I simply cut off the bottom half and remounted the lisence plate.

5k break in period? wow even the owners manual doesnt ask you to go that long. I used the variable rpm break in and the slip on works fine. I couldn't take not hearing my bike anymore. Note: this slip on didn't go on till around 2k miles. Yoshi's r nice but I liked the sound you get from this. I think if I do a full header back it will be Yoshi but thats further down the line. Good Luck and thanks.

I didn't say the break-in period ends at 5k miles. I said "i wouldnt mod exhaust or anything related to engine performance until way after the breakin period. 3200 miles on my 09, will add yoshi slipon at 5k."

I like the look of the Hotbodies Undertail. I ordered one but haven't got it in. How long did it take to install it? Did you have any problems installing it?
