Gday from Hobart Tasmania!

Gday guys I have recently got my self a 86 gpz250r and a xr400 same year. Have a few parts for the gpz and am building a Frankenstein bike to... The gpz motor in the xr... I'll put some pics up soon. I have a few questions to. I have 2 wiring looms ones off my gpz other is either or zzr been hacked but has more then the bike loom. I'm stuck with no spark at coils. I will be thinning out the loom as I don't need lights but for now I just need spark. Any ideas will be grand. Stator wires have a 2 wire plug and a 3 wire plug. But one loom I have has the 3 plug and then a 4 plug I'm not real familiar with bike wiring but eager to have a crack

The radiator won't be sitting there either that's just where it sat at the time I will be making a new mount and changing the tank to get it all to suit

If I can't copy (ctrl-c) the motor from one and paste it (ctrl-v) into the other, it's above my mechanical capability. But I wish you the best of luck!

Haha I like your motto mate. I love a project. I have another engine to go in the gpz to fix up. Just the wiring I have is getting to me atm due to no spark issue. But the swap is pretty easy with copy and paste setup. Only need to change a few things as you do to make it your own work haha just need to make engine mounts and spacers then fab an exhaust for it and fuel tank.. hardest atm will be the radiator due to the over flow and radiator it's self is big. The xr was air cooled so that's the other problem will lok good when she is done

@Koala - I just remembered, there is chatter of a "Ladies Only" track day at Mid-Ohio next season. Perhaps that would be of interest. I will have a couple of coaches/staff meetings over the off season and keep you in the know if more develops.

For the expansion tank, I've been thinking, again, and yes I know thats dangerous, waterless coolant, from my understanding it does not need a expansion tank, or at least a much smaller and simpler setup.

I've been looking at swapping both my car and bike over.

I admit that more research and testing is needed on my part, I may do the bike first and monitor the effects it has on cooling and the expansion tank.

BTW, I am trying to convince the Minister of War and Finances that we should move to Tassie on retirement, I been there on holidays a few times and I love it

From some googling it has a 7% expansion rate.

Correct me if Im wrong

If 250r has 1500ml (GPZ250R?) coolant and expansion rate is 7%

1500 x 0.07 = 105

Therefore, the capacity of the exansion tank must be at least 105ml, say 150ml.

In the end, you only need a expansion tank not a overflow tank, something the size of a juice box should do, thus eleveating the need for a large tank.

Well thats the theory anyways, practical?????
