My 07 250 cafe project
New to the forum, but not new to bikes.
Here are a few pics of my latest project. I still have a long way to go, but it's a start. Still need to trim the front fender, install a digital Guage setup, woodcraft clip ons, fork tube covers, coolant reservoir, exhaust wrap, new mufflers, then paint everything white including the wheels (I used plastidip to see how I'd like the look) Here is a better pic of the tank covers I made Opinions? |

Tonight I trimmed and painted the fender and front wheel. Tomorrow I'll do the rear. |

Anyone know of a nice radiator guard that will fit a pre-gen? There are tons for 08+ but I've only found custom ones for 07 and older

I looooooove that tail, that is a pretty awesome ride you got there. I gotta admit, I'm kinda jelly, you plan on getting clip ons in the near future?

Very nice pre-gen...
But what about trimming a bit off the front fender. Maybe just to have it a little shorter in the front than the back. Go with low clip-ons, you have no fairing to hit... In a true café spirit, you should be able to kiss your top triple when riding. héhéhéhéhéhéhéhéhéhéhé... Keep us posted. Love the finishing touch of your tank covers. |

I'm definitely going to trim more once it's ready for paint. Plastidip is neat for seeing what something will look like before you commit, but it's definitely not something I want for long term paint.
Those tank covers were inspired by blue collar bobbers so it wasn't my idea, thanks though. |

Here is a link to the tail
http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?n...d=200949672075 As for the seat I chopped the factory one down quite a bit on the back and the sides. I then reshaped the foam with a belt sander, then built a new base on the bottom side so it would fit flush with the new rail section. I then re-upholstered it with some nice marine vinyl from a local fabric store. I got enough vinyl to do 3 seats for about 10 bucks lol |

Tail section measurements are shown here
I slightly modified the factory hump brace, I trimmer maybe a 1/4" off the front side. I also cut off the tabs on the factory tail sub frame to get it to properly fit. The tail section was trimmed in the front since it was slightly to narrow. I can post more pics if needed. |

Just ordered a TrailTech Vapor 75-300 and the Indicator Dashboard 022-PDA from OEMCYCLE.COM. They had the lowest price i could find anywhere and had them both in stock. The 75-300 was $84.41 and the Dash indicator was $43.56.. Plus they have Free Shipping! Im pretty stoked to get them on the bike.. Any suggestions on how to mount them?

i also have the cardboard cutout for my tank covers if anyone wants them. It only took about 10 minutes to make, but would save some work.

The tail fits perfectly on to the frame and can not go side to side, I also made a plate out of aluminum sheeting to stop the tail from moving front to back. The Aluminum sheeting also holds the electronics as well as the tail light and license plate. Pics to come later today

Got the trail tech installed today. It was a fairly simple process but took time to figure everything out. The tach was a pita to get to read properly, and im not sure if its perfectly dialed in yet. Ill see once my jb weld dries for the speed sensor magnet.
Here is a night shot, ill take some better pics tomorrow morning and post them up Be sure to use the supplied led bulbs instead of the factory bulbs. I couldnt believe how much heat they put off, it made the dash lights (neutral, high beam, oil, and signals)very hot to the touch. Now they're nice and cool. |
