Suspension Upgrades - For a skinny mof**ka
hello errrbody!!! so i am not satisfied with the way my ninja is handling....it seems as though the suspension is nervous in front and rear and will not hold itself very smoothly through a corner....I am pretty sure this is because of my weight, i weigh a WHOPPING 130lbs in full gear......what can I do about this, I really want to feel like this thing is just gliding and I have full confidence in it I just haven't been able to get there!!!! any suggestions would be enormously appreciated!!!!

Congrats, you're the same weight as me. I just got finished installing Ricor's Intiminators and 5w oil. I've had 0.585 springs in the forks for a while. No riding impressions yet, as I don't have a front wheel on it, but the ride was very promising (albeit a bit too firm) with 10w oil. Very excited to see how it feels now.

skinny dudes rule
great to meet u brother!!! its a hard knock life for us skinny dudes....lol so i just scoped out those intiminators and it appears as though they don't make any for my year.....bummmer......let me know how it rides after you get that front wheel on!!!

Lol, the bike is still squishy with a 130lb rider, especially when you get on the brakes. diiiiive.
Anyhow, my springs are from the ex500. RT says I should use a 0.64 or something but I figured a tad soft for street was fine. Stock is 0.44, 0.585 is much better. I'm working on improving that damping with the Intiminators. |

i doubt it is your weight, you are actually under the weight for the springs. more then likely it is something you are doing in the corner to make it feel unstable.

I did .80 springs and emulators from racetech, and the stability under braking was night and day difference. Now i have great ground clearance when going through corners.

I'm also right around 130lbs. I went with .70 springs and 15wt oil and it feels a bit harsh for the street.

Could be something I'm doing no doubt. Could also be a combination of rider and bike which could be improved by an upgraded suspension. The thing that leads me to believe it's more bike than rider is I have rode other bikes and they seem to at least not "jump" in corners when I hit a bump, it absorbs the impact, as it should.....I won't be getting the nitrogen fill bolt or gold valves, just springs and emulators....will cost around $400...

Springs and emulators should set you back less than $300 all told with new fluid. Save that other $100 and shop around a bit more

FWIW, I've gotten some riding time on my setup. Not bad
 I think you'll like the improvement. There's still some mounds in the road that send me flying off the saddle, but it's the back end that does it, not the front. The front goes right over, the rear launches me.
