Have spark and fuel but no start 😭
Just got a 94 250 for rather cheap and rode it for 3 days. Then while out riding it just dies. Not locked up but dead. Thought it wasn't sparking but hooked it to a car battery and its sparking. Both plugs are wet with gas. Chem dipped and cleaned the carbs and fresh gas. New ngk plugs. Next is a comp test i guess. Besides compression would there be any other things to check? I can see all the valves move when I turn it over by hand. And it spins as freely as one would assume with the resistance from valve springs. Im stumped. Also if i buy a donor bike with a title would anyone near me want the frame and stuff for cheap? Any advice would be appreciated 👍

what colour is spark?
Wet with petrol is way too much! Would indicate your float-valves may not be doing their job and letting too much in and raising float levels. Unless you buy brand-new carburetors from authorised Kawasaki dealer, any carb you get will be used and need further cleaning like yours. Need deeper cleaning by disassembling them down to every last nut, bolt and individual component. Then scrub every part along with hidden passages using brushes and PEA-based fuel-system cleaner. Here's guide to secret passages: http://n4mwd.blogspot.com/2013/10/se...-passages.html Also do search here for "clean carbs ducatiman" other threads with photos on what needs to be done. |

Ive taken them all the way down to the primary jets and idle circuit jets and poked a bread tie through all the holes. Soaked for 24hrs then blown out with compressed air lol. The spark is white/blue and definitely will make you jump if you accidentally ground your wrist to the frame. (Ask me how i know) 🤣 ive even filled a spray bottle with fresh 87 and squirted it in the plug holes before putting them back in and not even a sputter. I would assume with spark and fuel i should at least get some sort of backfire or something

"I can see all the valves move when I turn it over by hand."
But....are the clearances truly correct? Have YOU actually checked them (using feeler gauges) for correct clearances? Tight valves can have disastrous consequences, including hard starting. SO IMPORTANT, DON'T BLOW IT OFF!

Intake is set at .005 and exhaust .006 🤷*♂️ that was my first thought too. They were way too loose so i adjusted them to spec. No changes. Possible the loose valves tore up valve seats? Im stumped. When it comes to engine building im usually spot on doing diagnostics. Been building sbc engines for years. I would think kawi engines are the same principle but im stuck scratching my head 🤣
