I dropped it. :(
I was determined to never let this happen but I managed to drop my new (to me) bike. I put the side-stand down and then turned around to put something in my car. Several seconds later I hear it hit the ground.
Broken turn signal, bent clutch lever, and several gouges in various places. I already found the replacement parts on ebay for cheap so it's not an expensive mistake, just an aggravating one. I guess I didn't have the side-stand down all the way? Who knows. |

Bummer man, but it happens. If the side stand is not fully deployed the weight of the bike can push it back toward the up position and down it goes. Forward facing inclines can accelerate the issue.
The only fix, is to be super anal about it. Always do a double take to ensure it's down fully. Glad it was a cheap fix.

Sorry to read that
Also, if on sand or dirt, the stand slowly sinks until rolls over on her side.

Also, don't leave it in neutral while on the sidestand. Make sure it is in gear, preferably first, then roll the bike as far forward as possible to take up the driveline slack. Then lean it over on the kickstand This way it can't roll any further off the stand.

Great advice in this thread. After I put the kick stand down I actually kick it lightly to make sure it's fully forward and then weight the stand.
We all make dumb mistakes. The first night I had my cbr I dropped it and broke the right mirror stalk trying to jump start it in full leathers. |

I have the same picture, same model and color of ninja, which I dropped for the same reason. No biggie.

I do that too now, after being lucky enough to turn around and catch it... twice.

That sucks man. I have a habit of pulling on the bike towards the kickstand side a couple times once I get off to make sure it's set well.

Glad to read that you weren't on the bike when it dropped.

Does the lack of front fairing make it hard work to ride quick on that?
