42T rear sprocket installed
The chain adjustment only moved 1-1/2 graduations rearward, so there was no need to break the chain to remove any links. There's still 2 graduations remaining until I run out of adjustment. Now the gearing has been reduced by a factor of 42/45 = 0.93.
The stock 14T engine sprocket was left as is. Previously at 60 mph, engine speed was 9000 rpm. Now engine speed is at 0.93 x 9000 = 8400 rpm at 60 mph. With the Yoshimura full system exhaust installed, the engine has a few more ponies to pull the taller gearing. I think it's a good balance - no apparent loss in pulling power and the engine is a bit calmer at a 60 mph cruising speed. |

Some are waaaayyyyy off, others are spot on. It's one of those things one learns about their own bike. Hope you like the 42, it's my fav rear sproc to run.

I could go either way and be happy, 14t or 15t on the front. I used to ride a HD so I like a bit calmer engine cruise rpm, unless I am on the r6... the scream on.
