Totally agree it is, people tend to look toward the bad/irresponsible things people do as reasons to hate on bikers.

But there are a lot of responsible riders too. But to most, these actions aren't enough to overcome the unbelievable callous nature of squids like in this video.

Saanich police have seized the blue Yahama motorcycle seen in a viral YouTube video hitting speeds of almost 300 kilometres an hour on the Trans-Canada Highway on Vancouver Island... Campbell estimated the 400-pound bike was travelling at about 90 metres a second.

“At that speed, it would go right into a car,” he said.

Saanich accident investigators told Jantzen at that speed the motorcycle could sheer right through a larger vehicle.

He should get a lawyer and shut his damn mouth. As long as they can't prove he was riding the motorcycle at the time of this video, he should be good to go.

The investigators should spend their time on real cases instead of some punk ass street racer.

Not sure if you read the article or not, but here are a couple points that caught my eye:

On Wednesday, the mother was issued tickets totalling $1449. The breakdown was a $368 ticket for driving without due care and attention, a $483 ticket for excessive speed and a $598 ticket for no insurance.

“The Motor Vehicle Act has sections in it that require the owner to be responsible for the conduct of the vehicle and to be responsible for the person who operates the vehicle,” Jantzen said.

Sucks to be her.

Then there is also this:

The 25-year-old suspected motorcyclist has no valid drivers license and no insurance as a result of 27 driving-related convictions including speeding and driving without insurance, Jantzen said. He has had his license suspended five times.

The driver also only had a learner’s motorcycle license, which was also suspended.

If this is the guy who was riding in that video, and this is his respect for both the law and others on the road, then I would 100% agree to him needing to be behind bars. I would rather see this type of person behind bars than to see the destruction they are capable of WHEN a mistake happens.

I still don't like the fact that crap can happen to you just for posting videos on YouTube.

hahaha. also angle the camera so it doesn't see your hands, show the speedo/tach, and don't say a word so it doens't record your voice at the time of the infraction.

make it only *implied that you were on the bike at the time, not obvious

Yeah but the thread I linked has actual news and details about the topic not just a video from youtube posted here with no info other than "dang, he went fast" and negative/positive feedback based off of his speed lol.

This reminds of an incident about a year ago that i witnessed. I was driving home with my wife and daughter after a family vacation north bound on HWY 5 ( the CA autobahn ) when a blue Yamaha sportbike ( FZR1000?) blew past me at the highest speed I had ever seen outside of a racetrack. Definitely over 150mph, traffic usually goes at ~80-85 mph and it made it like we were all standing still. Then about 30 secounds later 2 CHP Crown Vics came past doing about 130mph. About 20 minutes later I see the same bike in the southbound side of the freeway, again followed by the CHP. Finally, about 15 minutes later , the bike screams past us again , followed by 3 CHP cars. I listened to the radio and checked the news for reports about this but never found anything. I guess the rider got away. Crazeee

In a straight line a superbike can outrun a heli, if the rider knew what he was up to & didn't find a checkpoint at the next off-ramp it's a case of ditch the bike somewhere, grab a cab to somewhere busy, switch cabs & report the bike stolen once you're safely home

Last time I checked it was only people posting themselves doing illegal acts that get busted.

Well, this has definitely been a bruised testicles type of rude awakening for me...on my youtube channel, I surpass 100mph (GPS) on back woods but yet public roads, I have, since watching this vid, disconnected my FB from my channel and hope that'll offer me some protection...jeez, I guess we are drawing ever closer to a world akin to Orwell's 1984...

A wise move. When you choose to publicly post evidence of an illegal activity, you give up the protection of your fifth amendment rights. If you never put it on the internet, the LEOs might not know that it ever happened.

I hope this helps the argument, but I am trying to find where I just read last night that they cannot charge the guy because there is a burden of proof that it was him riding the bike in the first place. I will find the link and post it.

That article was already posted and is where I got my other quotes. It was actually the original post of the second thread that got merged into a previous thread about the same video.

So sorry...There are about 50 different articles in the Canadian press about it, so sorry I posted the same one. I can't seem to find the one I read last night that had a video along with it stating that they are not charging him. Anyways whatever, I could care less either way, it has nothing to do with me.
