Air filter missing?

All,

I am working on my pregen some. It needs some TLC.

Does anyone have any pics of the air filter and how its installed? I don’t have any manual for my 91. I searched but didn’t find any pics. From what I can see, there is no filter at all on the bike currently. Should you be able to see it by removing the seat?

Thanks

Thanks kkim, extremely helpful as you would expect.

It was as I thought, missing the filter & element holder. Which leads to my next question on this.

If I were to buy this http://www.xdcycle.com/discount-moto...ir-Filter.html Would I still need the element holder? It looks as if I would not need it. Just slide into hole, strap down and done. Is this correct?

Feel free to point me in the direction of a preferred filter (cheaper would be nice.).

is that K+N supposed to slide over the tubes on the airbox lid or something? If it slides over the tubes of the airbox lid then you shouldn't need the filter holder.

If this is the drop in filter that ninja250.org talks about in kkims link, I see why they say its a pain.

That is what I am trying to figure out. I don't want to buy what I don't need.
