Hello everyone, I have broke down and decided to ask for help. I have read a lot of posts before coming to y’all. So I bought a 99 EX25. I bought it from a guy who couldn’t get it to take throttle. So I decided to redo most of the bike. I put all new tires, brakes, plugs, oil change, chain, and sprockets. Who ever had this before me took no care at all for this bike. So I came to the carbs. I pulled them out and rebuilt them. I mean I went crazy on them. Carb cleaner and wire. I went through all the passageways. To include all the vacuum lines. Blew air through them and had great results. The carbs were spotless before I even started. So I even found stuff that was missing when the previous person redid the carbs. Main needle seat and the washer and o ring on the mixture screw. I have sprayed starting fluid on the boots when it was running and no leaks in them. I put in a new air filter in the air box. I checked both spark plug wires. Nothing fixes it. It still won’t take any throttle. So I got sick of it today. I took and rigged up a can to direct feed fuel into the carbs and capped both pull lines to the peacock. Still same result. I even tried turning the mixture screws all the way in.. still idles the same and won’t take throttle. It dies the minute you try.. now this is where I get so lost… I runs amazing on choke. Will even take throttle sometimes. So I’m lost and could use some direction. All in told I have pulled the carbs 6 times. Checked and double checked. Everything is clean and no adjustment on any screws seems to fix anything. Thanks y’all!

I cleaned them best I could. Wire and wire and wire with carb cleaner and air. I mean I’ll admit it’s not professional cleaning but I tried. Ohh and I forgot to mention earlier that I checked and adjusted all the valve clearances as well.

i'm not sure where you want to go here. A couple of questions first.

What was the compressed air source? Canned crap or compressor?

Where are pilot screws currently set (how many turns out?)
And turning them makes no difference?

You totally disassembled both carbs and split them in your cleaning efforts?

I wanna go ride the thing lol.. I am just looking to rule out user error before having them cleaned or purchasing a different set completely.

Air compressor pushing 110 psi per the regulator.

The idle screws: it seems to like to start at about 2 turns out. Once it warms up with the choke you can do whatever you want with them. No change. That is what the frustrating part is. It could turn it to a quarter turn and it runs. Apply choke and it takes off.. so the accelerator adds fuel but when applying the throttle (adding fuel) it dies. And the slides and gasket seemed fine. No tears and it seats. I did add one washer to the needle.

And yes, fully split.

are the pilot jets and screws original equipment? or jet kit junk?

you correctly replaced the tiny orings on the pilot screws?

This is where I run into issues. The person before me swapped them all out. There all aftermarket stuff. So I’m not even sure the jet is the right size. :/

And after consulting the manual a couple time I am fairly confident I got that right. Spring then washer then oring. Right???

every Far East component with differences may create various, odd running issues.

Mine definitely look like the kit one. I’ll try ordering factory ones from Revzilla. See what difference it makes. Think I should get jets too?

There are many, carb rebuild kits on the market for just about all motorcycles. You can assume that not even one of them has parts that would make an engine run properly. I have no idea how they can keep selling them after all these years, but somehow the word doesn't get back to the sellers that their kits don't work... or they just don't care as long as the money arrives.

The good part is that you may have been able to buy the motorcycle at a low price because of this. We've seen it many times here.

Yea, looking back.. after all the time and money I shoulda just bought oem kit. Even if it meant piecing it together.

Once it get it running good and cleaned up I’ll post a before and after picture.
