Eyes up

Doesn't belong in @$#^#&, because I didn't crash, but IMO worth posting.

Today heading back to work, I'm riding by a side street. Car waiting there, utility worker wearing hiviz vest working on a pole next to him. I see the driver look left/right, but stop looking for a second or two on the worker (not sure why, ooo shiny thing?)

I already knew what was coming, so I was off the throttle and ready; yep, cager pulls out without looking left at me again. I stopped well short of him, gave him the "you dweeb" stare, he has the good sense to look sheepish, we go our ways.

No drama, no big deal; but keep those eyes up.

Bah; the neighborhood he came out of is the same one where a stoned idiot killed my Elite; this guy no doubt had no insurance and definitely had no money to obtain in a judgement (and wouldn't pay it anyway).

Besides, I like Zorak, dislike blue on motorcycles (and all gixxers of all colors), and have better things to do than practice ukemi on pavement.

Again, I'm not bragging; it didn't take any braking or maneuvering more than you'd apply at a normal stopsign. There's just a spate of distracted drivers going around this part lately. This is twice this month someone has entirely failed to notice my candy apple green bike ridden by me with hiviz yellow helmet and gloves.

The only drawback to wearing a full face helmet is that people can't see you give them the stink eye when they do something stupid.

What you did is what separates smart riders from retarded riders. Recognizing what kind of areas have high potential for danger (intersections, anywhere with side streets, etc.) and riding accordingly.

I had a woman dart across both the turn lane and my lane to pull a u-turn yesterday. Today, different driver, same **** about 100' from where yesterday's excitement happens. Today I could see him talking on a cellphone. That's illegal in TN, I wish to hell they'd start enforcing it.
