Backfire on downshifting and decelerating

hey guys

i have a 2008 ninja fuel injected with a leo vince slip on so not a full system
also i have a powercommander installed in it
very often when i downshift or decelerate from about 8k revs i get alot of backfiring or popping however u want to name it.
i red about removing the kleen air system removing but since i also have a powercommander i could change the fuel mapping so it runs a bit less rich in the 8k revs region

any advice on which of the 2 i should do?

Check the exhaust manifold bolts, and make sure you dont have a leak or loose bracket. Recently, a buddy had the same issue, and found that one manifold bracket had loosened up.

The next thing Ive heard mentioned is to remove the kleen air setup when you run a race exhaust. Not sure how this would cause it, because Ive never really looked at the kleen air system to see how its setup.

You must block off the kleen air systen when using abfull exhaust. The system directs air into the exhaust just past the exhaust valve. This air will cause your O2 sensor to read funny and the air will cause the backfire problem

+1 on removing the kleen air system. It fixed all my back-firing.
