I am loving this thread Tri.

Hopefully if I move later this year I will get a place that has a garage for a project bike.

Thanks Steve . I'm blessed with having a wife that understands my obsessions. She knew when we bought our house that the garage is my island.

I got my Bridgestone S20's (courtesy of my beautiful wife) mounted and balanced. I put blue rim tape over the oem red stripes too. I got the rear wheel back on tonight, although it's not torqued since there's no chain installed yet. I want to fire up the motor before I bother putting the chain on. The vortex left engine cover has some weird thread for the coolant bottle mounts, so I'll need to see if the local hardware store has some.

I also fitted the new Leo Vince exhaust can to the old Ti system that was already on there. Kinda cool that it fit perfectly .

Radiator is back on and water/coolant is in the system. I just need to mount the reservoir bottle so it can suck up coolant when I turn the motor on.

Before and after of the wheels:

Sooooo,

whens the modding start? Knowing you, you've got bigger plans than just a PC'd swingarm.

It's kinda funny, but I've actually been pulling mods off. LOL. I removed the slipper clutch and sold it. Next, I'm taking off the Brembo radial MC and selling that too. The OEM MC is also made by brembo and is very sufficient for street and mild track use. It also gives me back the function of the brake switch. I am keeping the PC3 and galfer wave rotors. I picked up some Chinese fairings which came with some anodized levers. Most of the money has been spent on purchasing OEM parts, which has been really expensive. I've decided not to do an HID retrofit on it since it will mainly be driven during the day.

I did buy a new CDI torque wrench though. My old craftsman one over torqued one of my sprocket/ cush drive studs. I had to cut off the nut which destroyed it. Ended up buying a used cush drive from an 07.

Here's a list off the top of my head of aftermarket parts:

Mods I've purchased
Driven 17 steel front sprocket
Superlite 47 steel rear
EK 520 chain
Woodcraft frame sliders
Stahlbus speed bleeders
Renthal Dual compound grips
Leo Vince Carbon can with Ti headers
Auctmarts Fairings, Tinted windscreen, and levers. It also came with spools that are kinda ugly.
Proton Flushmounts
Black fairing bolt kit
Rear Integrated tail light

Mods that came with the bike that I'm keeping
Power Commander 3 USB
Vortex Clip ons
Sato Rearsets
Galfer rotors
Galfer front SS brake lines

I got the clutch lever installed with the left controls. I thought I was getting controls that were in better shape, but oh well. If it bothers me enough later, I'll deal with it then. Also cleaned up the connectors. The right blinker connector in the headlight subharness had been completely removed. The rear blinker connector was damage. It looks like when the bike went down the connectors got rashed. Since I hate butt connectors, I installed a 2 pin connector I keep in stock onto the license plate connections.

New connector

You can use a banjo pressure switch for a front brake light switch, rather than swapping out the entire MC.

I could, but the lever also doesn't have a matching clutch side. That bothers me too. I already have an oem mc, so it'll go in. I'm sure I can sell the radial for some decent coin.

I had a setback over the weekend. Checking for leaks, I fixed some of them. I have a leak coming from the clutch cover gasket. I really HATE taking that cover off because it's a pain to get back on.

So I got the leaks fixed. I had one leak where the oil pan met the mid case. Instead of taking it off, I found some Amazing Goop epoxy for automotive use. It cured and kept the oil from dribbling out. The oil wasn't gushing out in the first place, so I think the epoxy will hold. It's rated to 250F intermittent, so I'm hoping the exhaust doesn't do much damage to it.

I got my HEL brake lines and they're freaking awesome. I installed the Stahlbus speed bleeders which made bleeding very easy. I just got done tig welding up a bracket to hold the customized rear shock reservoir. I'll be picking up some paint tomorrow to paint the bracket. I don't have the patience to powder coat it and my dad has my air compressor still . If the paint doesn't hold, I can always pull it off later and powder coat it.

Also got my Renthal grips installed along with the auctmarts levers and the headlights. It's starting to look like a motorcycle again!

More pics! I took some pics of my tig welds TIG welder is a Thermal Arc 95s. It's tiny, but works flawlessly once you get it dialed in. It took me a while to get a hang of scratch starting too.

They were money well spent IMO. I've used goodridge speed bleeders before and the stahlbus are higher quality for sure. In fact, I still have a pair of goodridge bleeders nib still.

LOL. I got the rear end on finally. I ran into a problem with the signal system. None of the blinkers would blink. It took me 3 hours to troubleshoot and find the problem. The bike side harness, specifically, the wire that supplies +12v from the relay to the switch was broken. I just cut the ends off and installed a new wire. Luckily, I had some connectors that were made for those OEM harnesses. I soldered up a new wire and installed it. I got it working. Interestingly, I think the OEM relay might be an electronic one too. I installed some protons and it blinks, but no sound at all coming from the relay. I installed one of my relays and it clicks like normal. I left the new one in. Both relays work.

As I was troubleshooting the electrical system, I must have burned out the neutral switch. It died on me and now the bike won't start. I placed an order for a new one, so I'm waiting on the parts girl to call me and let me know it's in.

I got the EK chain installed. I ended up having to buy a rivet tool. Once the new switch is installed, I'll be able to take it out for a test ride. No fairings on it yet except for the rear end. The brake light actually attaches to the rear fairing, not the subframe.

I didn't take any pics since I've been really busy.

You bought a rivet tool?? Weak.

Just use a C-clamp and a pipe flaring tool to flare those rivet links. (my dad had both sitting around) Then just tap them real nice with a ball-peen hammer, and that master link is not coming off.

Ok. Talk about frustrating. I put in the neutral switch and began to torque it to spec. IT FREAKING SNAPPED! Torque spec is 15ft-lbs and I hadn't even gotten close to it. Piece of junk switch.

POS switch

This build is keeping my itch for a project bike in check so far (to the delight of my wife).

I noticed that the original switch was made of a hardened steel. Not so with the new one. Looks like I'll just do a slight snug up on the bolt and hope it doesn't leak.

It's a 2013 Elentra .

I got the new neutral switch in and hand tightened. No leaks! I took it out for a short run and it's pretty fast . I noticed that shifts have a much shorter throw on the 6. It's pretty cool. I may adjust the rearsets. I'm not too sure if I like their position yet. I'll need to put some miles on it before I make that decision.

I started working on fairings today. I got the left side cut out to fit the woodcraft sliders. It took a while to get some parts to mate up... C'est la Vie with Chinese fairings. No pics because I don't want to ruin the awesomeness of the paint scheme

I had to replace the main relay. The bike would only start when the clutch was pulled in. I followed the service manual for troubleshooting and it pointed to the Main relay. I got a new oem replacement and the bike is working as it should again.

I installed a battery tender harness while I had the seat off too.

I got the fairings on and everything buttoned up. I'm going to remove my scorpio alarm system from the 250 and put it in the R6. I'm also going to make a garage door remote and a brake light modulator for it later.

Pics!!!
