Coolest thing that happened to you in motorcycle gear

Went out for a quick supermarket run this morning with all of my gear on. Just as I was starting up my bike to go back home, this chick ran up behind me and asked for a picture. She'd never seen anyone in full leathers before and thought I looked like batman...

Yeah, riding a motorcycle is just that cool

Anyway, I'd love to hear your stories about super-awesome encounters with the general public.

One woman told me that I look straight out of a James Bond movie. I was wearing full leathers.

Were you wearing this: http://www.udreplicas.com/index.php?...article&id=115

I was on my way to work one day when a mother and two young kids were walking across the street in front of me and the little boy kept staring at me (as he was walking away), so I waved and he lit up like a superhero just waved at him... Now I know how the Power Rangers feel... LOL!

I think the best part of this story is that you went to the supermarket in full leathers.

Hey Aaron, I don't remember a welcome thread for you. Did you create one? Welcome neighbor, I am about 45 mins north of you. I sometimes get lost down your way in search of great roads or just sight seeing.

Oh, add me to the list who goes to the grocery store in full race gear. I would imagine the little old ladies just shake their heads and say "darn kids".

How about the UN-coolest thing....
Went to Wal-Mart in full gear, a small group of teen girls took my pic and said they would put it on the "people of wal-mart" website.

about a month after buying my Ducati I got flashed by a girl in a car next to me at a red light . That is when I knew that I definitely got the right bike to follow the Ninjette.

Some years ago I was working in a downtown area and walking from the parking garage where I kept my bike to the office. I was wearing a bright red Roadcrafter suit and carrying my Shoei.

I encountered an urban "yout" on the street. I shall describe his apparel for you so you get the picture.

Jeans five sizes too large, worn with the crotch at about knee level with plenty of baby-blue boxer short visible above the belt line

Hoodie worn off both shoulders like a mink stole

Brand-new basketball shoes that were not only untied, but AGGRESSIVELY untied with the tongue hanging out like Gene Simmons.

I'm sure you can picture this gentleman.

He said, "Hey, Power Rangers!"

I took one look at him and realized that, well, all that gear I was wearing didn't really look all that silly after all.

I get called a pink power ranger. My street jacket is pink. I only wear my full leathers in the mountains or at the track.

My usual outfit is a light silver Shoei X-Eleven, black and gray Hein Gericke Timbuktu Jacket, black Roadcrafter pants, whatever gloves are appropriate for the weather (often Revit Fahrenheit H2O), plain black Oxtar boots.

When I am actually taking a long trip, usually throw on a hi-viz orange vest.

I've talked to both local cops and State Troopers. They've nearly all seemed to make similar comments - "Guys in racing leathers get attention, because a a lot of riders who wear that sort of gear are racing". (Over-simplication, but...) They also noted that the guys wearing almost no gear or having obvious gang patches get a look, the first as "statistics" the second as possible perps. Guys riding in "touring" gear "not too much beyond the speed limit", tend to not draw as much attention, as they tend to be viewed more as "serious riders using motorcycles for transportation".

Being judged for what gear you wear sucks, but that appears to be the reality these days. I like all the times I was going "just a little fast" and a LEO in a car didn't bother with me.

The coolest comment I think I've gotten was when I was wearing my dual-sport Helmet (Shoei Hornet) and a little guy tried to get his dad's attention, "Look a Space Marine"!

not really the coolest but i'll tell you what happend this morning lol.

Was riding around really early and was getting hungry so i stopped by jack in the box to pick up some food. I order, pull up to the window, get my wallet ect..the girl opens the window, asks for my money and then proceeds to stare at me for a few extra seconds and smile. I wait a good 30seconds and she gives me my food, im about to pull away from the window and she says hold on. i stop, see her pull out a pen and she writes her number down and gives it to me..all i really did was say Hello and thanks.
She was a hottie too.

Not in the awesome category, but certainly on the funny side.

I was wearing my full TourMaster suit, full faced helmet, gauntlets, and my Sidi boots. Rolled up to a drive thru to grab a quick bite and when I got to the window, the cashier (a gal) and another employee (a guy) were looking out at me. He leans out to look at me, then looks up and down my bike and says, "Dude, sick bike!" I reply "Thanks" and his gaze shot to my face, he turns beat red, and promptly runs away. The cashier starts cracking up, motions for me to wait, and leans back to look to the kitchen.

I hear her shout, "Hey everyone! The "awesome dude" on the bike is a GIRL!!"

Gotta love breaking someone's brain when it comes to stereotypes. LOL

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been legal.

P.S. I walked by a pre-school yesterday, lets just say a runway model doesn't get as much attention as I did.

Had some guy follow me around the supermarket because I had my helmet in my cart asking how old I was and telling me how I was so super hot.

I just leave the helmet on my bike now and wear headphones while shopping.

I don't like being accosted whilst picking out eggs.

But that wasn't cool. The coolest is when little kids see you and are in awe. Had a little girl and boy in a car next to me at a light looking and pointing. I waved and revved a bit and they went crazy happy for it.

Best feeling ever. When you're in your gear they remember how cool that person wearing gear was and I hope if they choose to ride one day, they choose to look as cool as I did.

I just started riding less than a month ago and im already diggin the cool points for having a bike

I live in a neighborhood with a lot of kids so they constantly wave at me when I go by. I wave back at them.

But the other day I was coming down and a boy was lifting up his hand and so i waved... he was pointing to my blinker to tell me I had my blinker still on.
dohhhhh!

I cant wait to get a tinted visor so I dont feel shy to look left or right at a stoplight.

My Power Ranger story:

Once while in my one piece leathers (A* SP1 red), I stopped at the store to grab a drink. As I got off my motorcycle, a little kid ran up to me yelling that I was the red Power Ranger. He insisted I autograph his folder... I looked at his Mother who nodded it was okay. I signed "Jason" even though that's probably not the new red ranger's name... It was sloppy enough he probably didn't notice. Either way he was really happy and his mom snapped a pic.

As they were leaving she tried to give me $20.

Coolest story for me was when i was putting on my gear after i got out of work and a kid looking out of the store window wouldnt stop staring at me. So i just waved hi and his face lit up like a candle. Felt good haha

And on 2 occasions i had my helmet off but i had my leather jacket and gloves on and i got commented that the jacket looked great (Red JoeRocket Radar Jacket) by 2 chicks and that my bike was good looking as well

I brought my ninjette for the first time today to the house of this kid I babysit. When I showed him pics before he was like "mehh", but when he sat on it, leaned like race champ and rev'ed the throttle, the smile on his face made my day. Before I left, he told me he wanted to get a motorcycle when he'll get older =)
