Can you use a needlenose plier or a regular plier and work it carefully to unscrew the metal casing off?

Oh, and another point. Whatever tool you decide to use, make sure it has a lot of surface area to grip the metal casing. You don't want to tear the rest of it into smaller pieces.

Wow.

I'm guessing vice-grips or channel-locks on the remaining flange isn't getting it to turn? Do you think that the filter might have been cross-threaded?

If the vice-grips / channel-locks don't work I would probably try and VERY CAREFULLY cut off the remaining flange and then try vice-grips / channel-locks on the circumference of just the remaining nut portion.

If that doesn't work I would EVEN MORE CAREFULLY try and split the remaining nut part of the filter and pry that off.

May your hands be swift and true.

I don't know what in the actual fck you guys did there. What I would do at this point , would try 2 things. Put a leather ultility glove on and try to turn it by hand. 2nd , try a large flat head screw driver and gently tap the holes on the remaining oil filter in the counter clockwise direction. That should help loosen it

+1 on a screw driver and mallet. Make an indent for the screwdriver to get a good bite and gently "hammer" it off. Stop if the metal begins to tear and make another indent. Heat from a small torch (be very careful not to over heat the parts) or hair dryer on the remaining filter part may help. Try not to feat the anything but the filter piece so it will (slightly) expand then try to tap it off with the screwdriver and hammer. Good luck.

Assuming it's aluminum on the motor end, heat will only make it more difficult to get off. [Aluminum expands faster than steel] If I were you I'd try to find a pin spanner and pull it off that way. Check a bicycle store.

http://www.bikepartsplace.com/discou...er-spa-1c-grn/

I wouldn't suggest using vise grips on the threaded portion of the filter as you will likely not be able to get it off that way without damaging the threads on the motor.

Get an adjustable pin spanner wrench of some type.

tryed everything

We started with the filter socket which only stripped the filter, then we tryed the wrench that bent and stripped it, then hammered a stress driver through it and that finished it off.so now ive pulled it apart piece my peice as u can see.I guess the pin pliers are my last hope.the most its budged is a quarter inch.the thread started to bend as well....is that thread bolt replaceable? And where would I find one????

Post another picture so we can get a better idea of where you stand.
From the 1st picture, what is the yellow stuff around the threads?
Have you tried lubing the threads with some engine oil and then turn it? I was thinking some extra lubrication could help.

Looks like it's part number 32155 here: http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/oempa...ump-oil-filter Only $8 plus shipping. May be as cheap or cheaper from a Kawasaki dealer. A service manual should cover how to remove and install.

Hopefully a spanner wrench will be beefy enough to get it loose for you, and if that fails you'll have to get two long pin punches to put in the holes and a screw driver to twist it off.
I prefer to use a wrench that i can slide as close to the base of the filter as i can so i can grip the base, which is extremely strong and less likely to tear apart from someone gorilla griping it while tightening it.

In the event a wrench is unable to twist the filter you will want to back the wrench out on the filter about an inch with someone applying pressure and using a chisel very carefully next to the base and tapping the filter lightly to get a bite so you can get a better blow on it to release the friction the gasket is causing it to bind on the engine.

first off, stick something in that oil intake so nothing gets in there, crawls in there.

that way if you have any grinding or what have you, nothing gets into the engine...

THIS IS LITERALLY the last thing between the oil sump and the journal bearings, wrist pins, cam bearings... All the filters and chunk removal is before this point, keep it clean.

Secondly I have an oil filter removal tool at home, it is the BOMB. more you twist, the tighter it grabs... the OEM filter from Dodge (installed at the factory) would not come off. I put this thing on and it crushed the filter, but it came off.

has gears and cams inside, works both ways, lose and tight... and so far it fits everything from a Dodge Dakota to a Honda CBR600

I got it at Farm & Fleet... sorry the pic doesn't show the manufacture, more info as I have it.

I bought one of those for my 500's factory-installed filter, and it did nothing. I ended up having to use some big channel-locks and crushing the sides in some.

Anytime that I've had an oil filter that was on too tight to remove I've always used the same old trick... I just pound a big screwdriver through the filter, in one side and out the other, and use the extra leverage of the screwdriver to twist it out. Works every time.

Not sure if you all are doing this, but before installing the new filter always rub some fresh oil on the rubber seal before seating the filter. This will prevent it from seizing up when it is time to change it. I have been doing this on all of my vehicles for years and have never had the the filter stick.

Put a few rubber bands wrapped around the flange on what's left of the filter & use a vice grips to try to work it off. You don't want to catch the threads with the grip, the rubber should improve traction and keep the grips far enough off the threads

Yep, says to do that on the box, oil the threads & the O-rings

I would take a sheet metal cutter and cut as far inward as you can go, then try to rip it the rest of the way.

If you take a long narrow punch you can stick the tip if it firmly against the side of one of the holes and tap it with a mallet counter clock wise.

it should come out easy.
