what have you been hit with while riding (not alive)
So the other day while following a cager I was 2 seconds from lifting my lid to scratch my eye and a large rock shoots from the guys tire and my shield is now knicked where my left eye is..... Never take eyesight for granted... I know I would've lost an eye had it hit me maybe more had I reacted poorly to getting hit in the face.

Not quite a hit but a very near miss with a red kite (a type of buzzard) which I had to duck flat on the tank to avoid, I slowed & looked back to see it lifting a rabbit from the other side of the road

Read carefully. His shield was down. His eye was safe.

Many many non-living things. Worst thing I was ever hit by though was a humming bird on a day I wasn't wearing my jacket. Made a nice bruise on my arm. Almost knocked me off the bike too.

I-70W here has always got debris everywhere. Its worse when its windy. Personally, I've been hit by a piece of retread that hit my chest broad side (the ends slapped my back) and it rolled up and over my helmet. Second time I was hit by a flying couch cushion, no lie. Fortunately I always have my jacket and helmet on.
Rocks are an everyday occurrence. On both my helmets, my visors look marbled from rock chips. There was a woman at work who told me she barely missed a wheel barrel that flew out the bed of a truck on her hyabusa. That would have been a bad day. |

I've been hit by a small bird or a bat once. A fellow I ride with hit a vulture another time... Killed it. I think the other weekend someone either flung a wheel weight at my arm on the track or I hit a bug, cause I had a little welt from that.

I caught a bat once as a kid prompting my older brother told me about sticking his hand out on a motorcycle and running right into one such that it was stuck against his hand until he deliberately shook it off.

Wasn't hit by it, but a bird came about half a foot from hitting the side of my helmet while I was going 60+ ...that could have been interesting.

Almost forgot about this one, have to admit I am trying really hard to forget it.
Worst thing I've been hit with while riding is human waste, some asshole (sorry for the language, no other word to use) was dumping his trailers tanks on the highway while driving home after a weekend. |

So I wasn't hit with anything in this story but I wanted to share these 2 situations regardless. a week ago when I was at a light some D bag kid pointed his finger at me like it was a gun. He's lucky there was a car next to me because I would've followed him, then last night a completely different D bag in a truck with his girl yelled something at me at an intersection and redlight. So I stopped so he could get next to me but way before I should've stopped and waited for him to get next to me. He stopped way before he should've and just sat there, i shook my head flipped him the bird and rode off when the light changed..... I bet his girl was thinking "You P***Y if you're gonna say somehting atleast have the balls to back it up" lol

I've had a couple of memorable events. First was a glancing blow to the helmet from a sparrow as I was traveling about 65mph.
Second one was a rock kicked up by a semi nailed me right above the visor. Sounded like a damn explosion went off in my head. Inspected helmet after ride and found a chip in the paint along with small cracks. Didn't want to chance and problems so I ordered a new one. |

Several persons have been hurt or killed here in Florida by debris like metal rods or pieces of wood going through windshields like the one in your video.
Yes, those projectiles reach some respectable speed and force. In my case, the piece of wood flew sideways from right to left (front left tire of the truck pinched it against the road while making around 75~80 mph), crossing the lanes almost perpendicularly. I did see the piece lying on the road before the truck hit it; however, I never expected it to fly like that towards my lane. If you see debris on the road, combined with heavy traffic, stay well away from it.
