Are woodcraft clipon bars hollow?

I'm looking at them to replace my bent handlebars. I'm thinking if I get the set that matches the pregen and ex500, that I'll be upwardly mobile to put a ex500 front end on mine, if and when I find one that is complete.

Reason for asking if they are hollow:

I've got a pair of throttlemeiesters from my old FZ1, if they are hollow I'd like to tap them for bar ends.

Thanks,

Zach

'94+ EX500 has 37mm forks. '88-'07 250 has 36mm forks. I don't know if the previous model EX500 has 36mm. Is that the one you are looking for?

that would be interesting if they weren't hollow... i think if you crashed your handlebar would remove part of your fork assembly in that case... lol

More than likely!

Have any of you guys tried the woodcraft bar risers, with a 1 inch riser/spacer?

I wouldn't mind keeping stock height and gaining the adjustable angles.

Appreciate the insight everybody, got them installed and mounted today.

I was surprised that there isn't all that much adjustment room between hitting the tank and the fairing!

Also, if you lay the new woodcraft handlebars beside the original bars to mark the anti-rotation pin and lineup the seam between the aluminum and plastic bar slider, you'll end up with the grips being a half inch away from the seam... The stock bar ends wrap up over the end of the handlebar by about a half inch.

Grin...

I found a post the other day that described how to re-use the stock bar ends with woodcraft bars.

Go to the hardware store and get two 3 inch 5/16 flat head machine screws, 2 5/16's washers and nuts... and two pieces of 5/16 fuel line about an inch and a 1/4 long.

Pull the delrin sliders out of the woodcraft bars with a pair of channel lock pliers.

Assemble the bar ends with the bolt through the bar end, washer next, fuel line next, nut last. Tighten the nut until the fuel line just will fit in the bars and so that the nut grabs when you turn the phillips head on the machine screw with a screw driver.

Gotta love it!

kkim came up with that trick. For me, hollow bars are an excuse to farkle with some dirt-cheap universal bar ends (they thread or expand to fit), so why bother? Even if you get them off without buggering them, the paint eventually rubs off.
