Role Models

Something in another thread triggered this thought.

"Who are your role models?"

Post your role model(s).
No need to give a reason.
No need to question another's role model.

Other than relatives my role models are teachers that I've had and some of the managers I had early on in my career.

hmmmmm, I am drawing a blank.

The only one I can think of is my father, and he taught me how not to be a Man or a Parent, should I ever wanna be.

Damn, this sucks.

I can think of positive influences but not so much role models.

My Dad.

Family friends and relatives that served in WWII (B-24 Navigator, B-29 Navigator, and B-17 pilot)

Neighbor that flew F-18s for the Navy, with 1000 carrier landings and tons of combat missions.

Veterans, especially those that gave all.

Really though, mine isn't a joke answer. I love how silly and strange this man is. He loves being himself and won't let anyone else take that away from him, and it's fantastic.

I just noticed that this guy has four steering dampers attached to his neck. There to eliminate head shake, no doubt.

both of my grandfathers. One was a farmer and taught me that the 1st step to solving every problem is to take it apart and take a look at it. The other was a draftsman back when CAD programs didn't exist and you actually had to calculate stress and load bearing with a... wait for it... SLIDE RULE!

my physics teacher in high school, Mr. Potts. Get this, Mr. Potts had my mom and my dad as students his first year teaching, me, and came with in 2 years of having my son in his class. That's one devoted educator.

My dad, who went from being a well-off bachelor to marrying my mom and adopting me, my sister, and three brothers in one shot. Now that's courage! His example is what led me to adopt my wife's daughter.

What does it say about me that I have no role models. Seems like everyone I know is severely flawed in some way and I never say to myself "I want to be just like that person." And that includes everyone from racers to movie stars to my parents.

I suppose, if I gotta pick someone... Zaphod Beeblebrox.
