Why are women so attracted to motorcycles/cyclists?

Why are women attracted to motorcycle riders?

Since I got my bike a week ago, every single time I go for a ride - women are staring at me HARD. I am absolutely not imagining this.. I saw some poor girl almost rear end someone in traffic as she drove past with her neck all kinked around backwards staring at me like an owl.

I certainly have a few theories, scientific and otherwise.. But I'd like to see what other people have to say first.

Plz discuss!

Motorcycles are sexy, the folks that ride them usually have something over there ugly face ( insert bag joke here) so they are mysterious, and blah blah blah butts look so much better on sportbikes... You ever seen rossi's butt cam? Um no homo

Though this now begs the question is it the guys on bikes in Hawaii or is it the women ogling the bikes in Hawaii?

Talking

Hah hah. Uh.. wow.

I read the first page in that thread and I think I got a good enough 'feel' for the discussion. Coincidentally that dude was from Hawaii.. and the other dude as well apparently.

Maybe it is a hawaii thing, but I just want to be perfectly clear when I tell you guys that there are many different cultures and attitudes amongst the islands. The aloha state isn't exactly hawaii 5-0 or anything like the various holywood portrayals that you folks may have seen or heard on the tele.

I can't seem to say it enough.. life is different in Hawaii. Maybe we just tend to smoke more out here. Maybe it's the cultural diversity. If anyone's planning on visiting, I highly recommend you do it.

With all that said.. let's get a little deeper.

Why do you, Unregistered.. think that riding a motorcycle makes you more attractive to women? [ 'Assuming you are a male']?

Statistically speaking, 98.4% of all visitors to internet motorcycle websites are male, so just answer the question please.

brb, I am formulating hypothesis. I am anthropologist, I study human, learn facts.

If you want to study the human why limit your question? In head to toe protective gear, the rider is often a unidentifiable blob of leather and/or textile. Is it so automatically assumed the rider is male that any who find themselves attracted to men would instantly look upon this blob and think "OHH sexy!"

What about real women riders which are rarely targeted in marketing or addressed in every day life? Appealing to the male buyers are those models whose pictures get the often joked response "There's a bike in the shot?" Are they made instantly more attractive because of the bike? Or could they be standing next to the world's largest pile of doo and still be distractingly attractive which means the bike is useless fluff?

Could it not simply be asked "What is it about a motorcycle that makes the rider more attractive than non-riders?"

Edit: sorry, yes I do find the question offensive, in whatever form it takes. Because it usually arises from either woman acting like brainless morons or guys trying to score by using the bike as a fashion accessory.

Hmm!

Actually, there's something interesting here that I hadn't picked up on in the original (funny) thread. I do indeed find my wife VERY attractive in her motorcycle gear. I know exactly what she likes look under it, so it isn't the mystery. She is beautiful (I'm a lucky old man), but somehow her 'sexyness' intensifies in motorcycle gear. For me, it's a little less about the bike and a little more about ATGATT.

Bruddah... I gets no play from the wa'hines on my pregen 250!!! LoL!

JK!

To answer this as simple as possible:

It's kinda like how I find women that ride, sexy! It's a huge turn on to me! You know the comparison of someone who dances well... I think there is something to say about someone who can handle what's in between their legs! LmaO!

I'm out! From da mainland...

You're on a vehicle that grabs a lot of attention. Period. I bet there's more ladies AND more dudes who watch your motorcycle than who watch you in your cage. Just sayin, everyone takes a second look at a sport bike because a) they're cool, and b) they tend to do stupid things, so people watch carefully.

You don't have more luck/game just because of your motorcycle. You just get more attention because it's 'dangerous' and everyone expects you to act like an organ donor. That's all.

What you have to do to get a girl to be attracted to you is buy a bike with the largest cc engine possible. To increase this attraction be sure to rev your engine for no apparent reason while they are nearby.

Your welcome.

Yea pretty much. Being different is an easy way to break the ice and a motorcycle definitely helps with that. Being an anthropologist the understanding of social nuances in relation to a status symbol should be clear.

Reasons why I stare at bikes and riders:

1) Do I know that bike and/or rider? If so, make sure to text that I saw them after waving and jumping like an idiot.

2) What kind of gear are they wearing? If not AGATT, insert judgememt here.

3) Are they riding like a tool? If so, insert judgement here as well.

4) If not a tool, can I learn from watching them and/or apply theoretical learning to visual aid?

5) Ogle bike for farkles I like.

The only difference I have between seeing a woman rider versus a male rider is the internal "yipee!" shout of that women on bikes are increasing in numbers.

I agree with most of you guys.

Predominantly, I believe the media attributes to this phenomenon. Movies are constantly being made that glamorize motorcycles and portray their riders to be alpha-male type characters who don't take any bullisht and save the day. I couldn't help but notice as I was standing in the checkout line at safeway yesterday -- all the ridiculous headlines and titles on one of those "women's" magazines. "Best sex NOW!" "All about HAIR" "How to tease your man!" "Lose weight AND eat more TODAY!" ---- Women certainly are strange creatures.. Simple, albeit strange.

Reason #2 -- Motorcycles are somewhat pretentious machines. They are loud, often heavy and large, reputedly dangerous -- all the makings for the appropriate prop in the 'bad boy' image which women have seemingly found attractive since the beginning of time.

Now on a more psychological level, women are attracted to status, affluence, access to resources, and social prowess. A motorcycle seemingly speaks to many of these qualities, naturally adding to the attractiveness of it's rider to the opposite sex. Motorcycles are widely understood to be much faster and more maneuverable than their four-wheeled counterparts -- Serving to put them in a separate category of "superior" vehicles. Also it must be said that I think women enjoy the attention of being seen riding on a bike, whether controlling the machine or as a passenger.

I could go on and on, and YES I am well aware that I'm generalizing an entire gender somewhat unfairly -- but for the sake of discussion.

If you didn't want to get particularly deep with this question you could probably answer it in one short sentence. "They're shiny, dangerous, expensive, AND they vibrate when sat upon."

Anyone?

And yeah, maybe it's just a hawaii thing. And to answer previous question, I am 6', 170lb, ~7% bodyfat, weightlifter build with an absolutely beautiful face. So yeh, maybe the ladies are just staring at me and not so much the bike. >.<

The VIP parking surely adds to it as well. Any store I go to on my bike, I just ride right up on the sidewalk and park a few feet from the main entrance. No one seems to care or complain. Surely this added visibility is a contributing factor.

You could also take it to the chemical level from this point. On a base, chemical and hormonal level, women are attracted to the "caveman" that can provide. Eons ago, that provisionary need was food and shelter whereas now it can be correlated to food, shelter, social ranking, and "shinies."

Hormones change what traits and qualities one is attracted to in a mate. A man is more attracted to a woman who is ovulating and a woman who is ovulating is more attracted to a man who has more masculine features and is more of a provider. Ie fit, wealthy, successful, etc. Whereas when a woman is pregnant or on birth control, she is more attracted to a man who has softer edges.

So now you know!

I can't say for sure what women find attractive but I like to think it's because of how leather pants highlight my ass and crotch. Just like booty shorts. Women go crazy when I wear those.

I agree and disagree. This is a good discussion.

We're in agreement that women are still driven by the same biological and hormonal drives that inspired them to act as they did quite a long time ago -- in a prehistoric society. As you said, food, shelter, and the ability to provide/hunt to support her and her young. Translated to modern day society -- financial resources, property/real-estate, status among one's peers/affluence, and finally physical appearance (which plays much less of a role than men have been led to believe by our oversexualized society.)

I'm going to omit the second half of this post because I don't want to get into the touchy subject of men talking about women and women talking about men and all that feminism and equal rights type stuff.

However I will say that it's been studied and proven -- When women are at the point in their cycle when pregnancy is not as likely, they seek out the above mentioned "provider" type of male -- but when they are at the point in their cycle that they're most likely to get pregnant, they seek out a more masculine, large, dominant male with [preferable] genetics.

It's as if they know they need a male to provide for them, and that's what they're after -- but they don't exactly want to have [his] kid, even though they want him to help raise it.

I think riding a motorcycle appeals to this "what the hell, he was hot; and it was only once" female ovulation mentality.

Commence crucification of corksil now for sharing his viewpoints.

And hey, maybe it's just a hawaii thing.
