Another bike???

Hi Folks,

I'm considering getting another bike to go with the 2fiddy... I'd like to get a touring/cruiser this time around for longer trips and considering one of the following (keeping the 250 for around town riding)...

650V-Strom, a SV650, or one of the Honda Shadow models... I like the looks of the Shadow, plus I can flat foot the bike while seated... I'm just starting to looked more closely at the V-Strom, and the SV and I may consider a BMW, but they were a little too tall for my comfort...

Those of you that have or had any of these bikes what your opinion was.. liked em, hated em

Thanks

I had a 1999 SV650S for 4 years and enjoyed the bike. It was my re entry bike after being away from 2 wheels for 8 years. If I kept it, I would have upgraded the suspension and brakes. I bought a 2003 VFR800 to replace it because I wanted a more comfortable bike for touring.

I sat on the V-Strom 650 and 1000 models and did not like the seating positions. I've read many good reviews but I prefer the fit of Kawasaki's Versys 650. You should add it to your list of potential bikes to buy.

Honda Shadow? No thanks. I thought I would want a cruiser but one test ride on a 2014 Harley Davidson Forty Eight changed my mind.

I recently picked up a 2009 Shadow 750 and while it is a great bike the cruiser thing is just not for me either.
SV or Ninja / Versys 650 would be great options in my opinion.
I had a 2008 Ninja 650 with aftermarket bars and it was a fun and comfy little bike.
You can pick one up for a pretty reasonable price as well.

I rode a shadow for years. Loved it. The shaft drive models are where it's at yo. In hindsight, I sort of wish I went with the SV route but still have no real regrets.

After riding the ninja for a while, the front of that shadow is gunna feel heavy and funny. hahahahaha Oh and the lack of a positive neutral finder is very apparent, shut down the engine to get it into neutral easily.

I may just need to spend a little more time on cruisers, they just feel unnatural to me.
That Shadow is a smooth running machine!
