I glad this forum is full of genius riders that have never made a mistake. I've actually ridden with Eric (all right, once, but still) and he didn't strike me as a reckless or unsafe rider. He made a mistake on the 250, and he certainly paid the the price for it. It wasn't because he was riding that bike beyond its capabilities. It wasn't because it had a high strung motor and a twitchy throttle response.
You can hate on him for getting a bigger bike. Go for it. I'll bet he rides his bigger bike slower than you ride your little one. For a little while, anyway. And odds are because he actually put himself on the pavement by screwing up, I'll bet he's a much more thoughtful, careful rider now. If he made the same mistake on a CBR 600, he would have had the same result. Same speed, same goof, same crash. I remember when this forum got started (or shortly after, when I was invited here), it was a bunch of riders with a common bike. It was also a bunch of polite people, who treated other members with respect, as if they were people they actually knew in person. There were plenty of other forums with loud mouthed, rude, ignorant, judgmental internet tough guys who made posts as if they would never have to see that person face to face. You don't have to be an asshole in person to be an internet tough guy, sometimes the anonymity of the internet and a screen name really brings out the worst in people. Now listen: If you told him he made a mistake with the CBR, this doesn't make you an asshole. Or even necessarily wrong. But there is such a thing as going overboard... Eric, let's get together and ride sometime again... We can even drag along 2 Harley 883s, a ZX-6, a ZX-14 (long ride) and even a Ninja 250 or two...

http://moto-junkies.com/ They are legit and sell many bikes per year. I know the owner, we run track together. Even currently has a 250 for $2400 for sale.
