New Plate, Now I Want to Remove Fender!
I ordered a custom plate for my bike, and I love it!
I think I'd like to perform a fender elimination to make it look even better. I figure I would just cut the existing part, add some steel L-brackets to the stock plate holder, and do the punch-out on the brake light for the illumination. I've already got integrated turn signals, so that's not a big deal. Are there any drawbacks to performing the modification? Last futzed with by goldfox; April 23rd, 2015 at 03:09 PM. Reason: Fixed double post. |

two things that might be drawbacks depend on where you ride...
legality of removing reflectors and stuff flinging onto ur back. No other crazy drawbacks, though. i think.. |

Awesome that you're in Texas! Thank god we don't require the inspection sticker anymore. How I deleted the fender was chop it all down and left enough for the license plate to mount to via two reflective screws and nuts.

You can do a DIY fender eliminator by trimming part of the fender, if you need some tips, and pictures let me know.
SIDENOTE: it will still be legal

if you want my 'fender eliminator' i'm looking for a fender. in austin.
my fender eliminator consists of two zip ties that hold my license plate to the tail fairing. its totally open underneath and sprays muddy water everywhere. i need a fender... damn. |

I have no fender, and the back of the bike gets dirty but that's about it. I'm planning on adding a hugger at some point.

So far, I haven't had any issues with water (or mud) being slung up onto my back. I was worried that it might happen, but no problems here! I don't do a lot of riding in the rain, but I do ride on wet pavement, and have a low water crossing that is often flowing over the road on the way into town from my home.
I don't have the actual fender to give away, though. I mean, I have what's left of it, but I sawed off the lower portion of it, so that I still have the wheel-well portion under the seat. |
