Feel heat coming off left side when riding.
I got my carbs cleaned and rejetted recently and my bike is running better then it ever has. No more stuttering and shaking on the highway when in the 6000rpm range. Since then I have been riding a lot more and noticed some heat kind of radiating on my left leg after riding for a while. It's not burning me it's just something I have picked up on. I've also noticed a burning smell occasionally especially after dogging it a bit at speed. Should I be concerned or is this normal?

The heat could be somewhat normal, although the smell would bother me? Did the mech get grease on the exhaust? When you park it, put a piece of newspaper under the bike and leave it overnight. Any spots on the paper from leaks?

The carbs had a very slow leak before getting serviced but that seems to be all good now. I'll leave some newspaper under there tonight just to be sure. The smell reminds me of a burning firewood if that means anything. Maybe it's time for an oil change. There's is only 6100 miles on the bike.

Have the valves been adjusted per service's schedule?
Take a look at the exhaust manifold where it connects to the engine, sometimes leaks of exhausted gases occur there due to loose bolts.

I couldn't afford the valve adjustment at the time I was getting the carbs fixed up. It will probably be another month or so before I can get them checked. I'll take a look at the exhaust and make sure everything is tightened down.

Carbs definitely got synced maybe the smell is from the breather? Bike is still running better then ever so I am not to worried.
