Should I buy this GSXR 600?

I've got a line on a 2007 GSXR 600 with 12400 miles for $4500 (asking). List of mods:

M4 carbon fiber shorty exhaust-BMC air filter-Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires (less than 500 miles on them)-520 chain conversion (black)-Driven front and rear sprocket (-1 front, +2 rear)-SpeedoDRD*-6k H.I.D. lights-FP Blue adjustable shorty levers-Fender eliminator/LED License Plate Lights*-Frame sliders-Power Commander 3-Black Fully Adjustable Vortex Rear Sets*

It'd be a 3 hour drive to check it out. Pics show no damage at all and he claims its flawless. Stock grey/blue color.

Insurance for full coverage for me is $500 ($300 on ninjette). I put 4200 miles on the ninjette last summer, so attempt to keep the hazing to a minimum.

Thanks for the help!

I've got the cash. I'd just be waiting until Spring to sell the ninja. Hes the third owner. Says he just commutes on it and tracked it once.

Sounds like a nice bike for a gixxer. I bought a new GSX-R600 back in 05 and my wife and I both hated the suspension, especially after using it at the track. The right setup just wasn't there for us without going to the aftermarket so I ended up trading it for an 04 ZX-6RR racebike with Ohlins at both ends .

I've jumped around and owned bikes from all the big 4 and have to say the Suzukis were my least favorite. I do like my DR-Z400SM but Suzuki Canada has terrible customer service and it will be the first to go.

I love my 03 ZX-6R and have owned it for almost 10 years with no plans to sell.

Actually the suspension on my 05 GSX-R600 was opposite of rigid. The thing moved all over the place and wasn't planted like my 03 ZX-6R and 04 ZX-6RR. It wallowed through almost every corner and did not build confidence at all. I've taken 5 different bikes to the track and its the only one I went wide on a corner and went onto the grass. It wasn't great on the street and was terrible at the track. A fellow racer friend of mine felt the same and we had hours of work trying to get it set up to handle better. Lots of people like those gixxers (over 1 million sold!) but it just wasn't my cup of tea and turned me off ever getting another.

Sorry to stray from the topic. That 07 has some nice mods and the mileage is ok but 3 owners seems like a lot for a 6 year old bike. Try to get all the maintenance records, in touch with previous owners, etc.

If I were in the market for another 600, I would look at the Triumph 675R or Kawasaki ZX-6R and would probably stick with Kawi.

I wouldn't worry about just 3 owners since a lot of people like to sell when the weather gets cold. If you're buying now you have a couple months to go through it and do some maintenance to. Also ask if the stator/regulator have ever been replaced, the 06/07 are notorious for those going bad but that's about it. I had a blast on my 07 600 last year.

Here's a pic except now it has LED turn signals instead and I'm awaiting bar end mirrors.

Great looking bike nautica but why install bar end mirroros when the stock ones have the integrated signals?

Thanks. And I put the hotbodies led signals where the mirrors stalks bolt to and am going with bar end mirrors since they'll actually be more useful than the stock ones. Plus I think it makes the bike look better, but that's all opinion.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately it's hibernated for the winter and hopefully I can get it back out in April. But for now here's another shot of it, I didn't take many pictures last year. As you can see the mirror stalks look out of place to me.

OP, did you check out that 07?
