From San Rafael, CA

Hi all,

Just picked up a used, red 2009 Ninja 250 this past week. It's my second bike (I owned a Moto Guzzi 2009 V7 Classic as recently as November which I had for a year as my first motorcycle). I've heard great things about the Ninja 250 and am excited to ride her soon. I am planning on doing my own wrenching on it (like I did on my last bike).

Cheers,
Aaron

Thanks! There seem to be a lot of Ninja 250s in the SF Bay Area -- I wonder if there are many in the North Bay. I got the Ninja through BARF, incidentally!

I often ride up in Marin, and one of the rides I try and make every couple of weeks starts right in San Rafael (Lucas Valley Road, Big Rock Deli, 8 AM each Sunday). Haven't made it in a few weeks, but will definitely let you know the next time I plan to be there.

Welcome. I think you'll love the Ninjette, just a great bike. I do enjoy the retro look of the Moto Guzzi, though. Hope the RIP note in your profile doesn't mean she's completely dead . . .

Unfortunately yes, the Guzzi was totaled while riding in the rain. There are things I loved about it and things I despised. One of the things I despised was the horrible cornering clearance

I thought about getting a Ninja 250 originally but my wife liked the look of the Guzzi and I liked the idea of a simple machine that I could learn to wrench on. Plus they aren't all that common and well, it was Italian but not a Ducati I planned to keep that bike "forever" but quickly learned I am more of a sport oriented rider and was looking forward to upgrading to something sportier after about a year of riding it.

I picked up the Ninja because I've heard good things about it. I want to try it out before I move on to Triumph Street Triple R next year. But who knows, maybe I'll be happy just bombing around on the Ninja 250 and want want to "upgrade".
