New 3ØØ rider in Florida
New rider here in Florida. Passed the MSF course(requirement here in Fl), then bought a '13 ninja 3ØØ Stardust White with 848 miles.
Currently waiting to get back on the bike, engine blew last Friday with only less than 1300 miles on it. Good thing for that extended warranty |

I pull around 40+ track days a year. You could indeed say I enjoy my bikes. I do ride the 250 on track too.
Aside of the obvious power difference, I find my 250 is similar in a lot of ways to the r6. Can you say the same for the 300?

wow, 40+ track days, thats sweet. this is my 1st bike and i eventually want to get some track time in the future. more for learing than anything.
as far as similarities between my 300 and the R6, i cant say there any many, besides the seat height, maybe the steering(probably because im a noob),and that it was a dog in the lower rpms lol. I thought the R6 was more comfortable (6'0 195lbs w/o gear), it felt like i sat in the bike, not on it. the hand grips were fatter, which i liked, the rearsets were better positioned for me, just seemed way different to me. R6 is great bike, always wanted one until recent. whenever i upgrade i think im going 600RR though caligrrl |

Dude!!! Your thoughts are almost the same as mine. Steering is the #1 reason I can bounce back and forth between the two during the same day, so perhaps your n00b perception isn't so far off. The 250 takes a bit of ergo/suspension changes to get even the same zip code of the r6 but after the mods the feel is "close enough" while in the corners, but not so much on the highways imho. You're spot on about it being doggish in the lower rpm range, but so are our little ninjas. So I pretty much ride them the same for the most part. The fatter grips are solved by the Oury brand grips and they are super cheap too!
I have ridden my friends 08 600rr as well, they are fabulous bikes, can't say I blame him for his love of the honda.

my friend who actually owns thar R6, thinks im crazy for thinking his bike is comfortable lol
the R6 seems to have as nimble steering as the 300, but feels a tad top heavier, not an issue for me. maybe its the seating position, like i said, i feel like i sat IN the bike, not ON it. looking into new grips, stock ones cramp my hands and i dont even have large hands. |

I heard/felt a rattle in the engine and lost all power near the end of a 2 hour ride in the upper rpms's lol. luckily i was 2 blocks from home, i shut the engine off and coasted home. went to start the engine once i got home, it didnt want to kick over, like the battery didnt have any juice, or that the engine was locked up. i let it sit for 15 minutes, started it up, heard a loud slap/knock.
im a mechanic by trade, been around/built/owned/raced high hp cars my whole life, first thoughts was broken rod. drained about one shot glass of oil, chunks, not shavings came out. i googled broken rods on ninja 300, and this isnt an isolated incident. other threads on the web say their rod bolts backed off from improper torque, and others say they completely sheared off. this was mostly in the 2013 model, which i happen to own. theres a whole thread dedicated to this on kawaninja300(am i allowed to post the link? didnt read the rules lol but who does anyway). go kawasaki this is exactly what happened to me, but a louder higher pitched noise |
