anyone crashed a Leatt brace?

how did it do? do you think it helped at all? i'm thinking about buying one but i'm not sure if it will survive more than one crash or if it will really even help at all...

Never seen one at a road coarse, maybe a bit to restrictive.

No idea how it will hold up with the intensity of motorcycle crashes (extra speed and whatnot) but my older brother's is still intact and he takes some good spills on his MTB from time to time when he's pushing himself.

Chris, it doesn't restrict your vision so long as you're wearing a compatible helmet, and they have a road racing specific version (which I haven't tried and won't for a while due to price) I believe the reason you haven't seen it at the track is a combination of lack of knowledge, it's expensive, and no one requires it for any track days like leathers and a helmet.

Chances are it will protect you just fine but you probably won't be able to wear it. At the request of the track we tested those foam neck donuts that kart racers use on the street bikes. It didn't work well because on a street bike with proper body position you body leans with the bike but you head stays perpendicular to the ground. When you wear something around your neck you can't tip your head left or right so when you lean your body into the corner you field of vision has no choice but to follow and I doesn't fell right. If your a gamer and remember the older superbike and Moto go games, it was nearly impossible for real life races to play in first person view because we are used to our view tipping.

Now you may be thinking "but dirt bike racers use them" that's true but their body position is totally opposite of the street and they don't tip their head in the opposite direction of their body. They also push the bike down when keeping their body perpendicular to the ground.

Hope this helps

Alex doesn't level his head mid-corner like most riders. We chatted about this a long time ago and I seen it for myself at Jennings.

This is the brace that most track guys get, mostly bc they have a hump in their suit and this accommodates for it. I have a few buddies that use this model and have about 80-90% of their head mobility. It doesnt take up that much room. Seen it in person. If you look up that model specifically there are track guys that use them a lot (if they have the money) bc they dont want to break their neck. I tried on a friends and it felt more bulky to ride but didnt restrict me at all. Maybe if you had a shorter neck and a bigger helmet. My friends had Scorpions, and I had my Bell Star.

Hope that helps. If I had the money I would wear it everyday on the streets.

I few guys/gals at our local track run them. I don't recall them ever saying mentioning their brace being damaged from a crash but the crashes they have aren't severe.

Here's some talk of them of you don't mind the reading:

I did on my last crash in the beginning of this month...Turn 12. I tumbled for a while and actually went head over heels a couple rotations...It helped BIG time. No whiplash whatsoever.

I freaking LOVE it. I now feel naked without it. I may want their newer version too.

What I like even more about it other than preventing neck hyperextentions, but it REALLY minimizes your chance of breaking your collar bone. Most collarbone breaks are due to the rider's helmet coming down on it. It make it impossible now for that.

I rode with my Brace with both a Bell Star and a Scorpion EXO-750. I had slightly more mobility wearing a Bell STar than I do with my Scorpion EXO-750.
