250 over a gsxr or cbr
so i had a choice of getting an old 600 which i still kinda want, over a new 250
well my reason for getting my 250 is that i wanted a new bike that i KNOW how it was broken in since i did it myself, and to make sure everything is working in proper order. I also wanted to become a better rider correctly so i choose to learn from the basics and then move my way up. I've noticed that compared to my neighbors 600 and my 250 i can turn lower and i am not as afraid to tackle the turns. After getting better I look foward to upgraded to a 600cc of my choice. I still dont know what new bike to get but i guess the zx6r would be my top choice since the kawaski brand is growing on me . |

welcome Josh... after a while you might just decide that the 250 is more fun than a 600 anyway

Thanks guys
yea i will pick up a 600 later down the road after i get better at turning. i dont see a point in riding a motorcycle half ass and scared. so i think its best that i learn to maximize the potential of my lil 250 before i start moving up |

That thinking had a lot to do with my decsion to ignore friends/family that said I had to start on AT LEAST a 600cc bike. lol. I can't wait to go out on some twisties with my buddy who has a 600cc Trumph - he may blow me away on some straight aways, but I bet I kick his ass in the twisties. I don't remember where I read it, but my favorite line was "It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow".

Agreed - they're not slow...but we do have to work our gears a lot more to get up to speed - which I don't mind at all. That's half the fun - big deal if you can click the shifter twice and be going 70 in 3rd... a little extra juice would me nice at times - like merging onto the interstates, but so far it's not been a problem.

its pretty flick able, im looking forward to getting the upgraded 120/150 so the bike can look slightly bigger but carrying a passenger and just daily riding isnt bad for the 250. when i ride next to 600s and they pull away from me too easily, thats when i wish i had more power. but its ok since im becoming a better rider before i upgrade

if you are intrested in riding one of our 250 for the day at a race track, let me know. We will have 6 bike for rent at ThunderHill raceway next monday. There a blast to ride on the track. Our bikes are all race prepped with race tire;s and all. Plus you'll meet a bunch of 250 riders there.

www.feellikeapro.com its 250 for the day, you get the bike, gas, tires pit set up and lunch. and even coaching if you would like. You still have to set up with the trackday provider. Its still cheaper then a set of tires for the track. I can give you more info if you are intrested. My cell is (559) 273 4429. it's alot of fun.

Welcome. Starting out on the 250 is the move.... then decide later on if you want to move on or stay with it... tough choice.. I didnt think I would go to a 600, but I dont regret it one bit.. but that is me...

..."half ass and scared"...best comment I've read yet.
and, don;t be troubled by 600's pulling away from you because sooner or later, the roads gotta turn, then you can show them those cute lil' lights we have on back. |

Yeah....I discovered the n Shore too this year...nice pleasant rides, really quite nice for a 250...been upstate a few times, pA one saturday, trying to get Zach to go thru Fahenstock Park in the next few weeks...was up to Bear Mtn...took 9g, stopped off at quarry. Hey...did you mount the tire on the Honda ? Do you know how to do stuff like that....[I] would seriously appreciate a call if you've not yet done it because I'd like to watch . Sunday is church so I don't get done till 12. Weekends booked till 7/17 but as usual, Saturday is my trip day or sunday after 12. What, are you doing summer school ?

Yup sure do! I wanted the green one, but the dealer didnt have it in, so I just got the red/blk one. I stripped the graphics off it. They were a lil much for my taste.

Welcome from the north
We're all biased here but the 250 makes so much sense. It's a great starter, not only because it's more forgiving, not only because it's fun, not only because it's reliable but to ride it well means you're learning to ride as well or better than the folks on the bigger bikes. And that's some kinda neat. |

yes i agree on the 250 forgivable nature. at 9xx miles i feel so much more confident than i was when i started. my turns are slowly getting lower and lower. im gona need to invest in some knee pads soon. Its starting to get to the point where i can almost push my ninja to the max in turns. i know 900 miles is too early to say that, but alot of those miles were made in the cayons i like my 250 for turns. in hwy runs i would like some more power so i shall upgrade in a couple years and many more miles on the 250 ~

Nah.. I could probably get the wheel/tire off, but I dont have stands and don't know how to mount/dismount the tire anyway... I had Nations in Hempstead do it.. good price and I was out of there in about an hour..
