300 in 250 chassis

Our rules next year (MCRA in the mid-west) would seem to allow racing a 250 with a 300 engine installed and then competing against R3s and RC390s. Could be a relatively cheap way to remain in the small bike class without buying a whole new bike and spares. I've heard its an easy installation but haven't found a reference yet. No doubt it's obvious somewhere but I am missing it.

Assuming the whole package can be fitted, what's the opinion out there about the result being competitive with the new R3 and KTM RC390? Thanks.
