Arrow MotoGP Braking Infographic Provided By Brembo

Copied from article in Motorcycle.com:

"Looking at the track map above, you can see the Le Mans circuit isn’t like other circuits. There’s only one true hard-braking corner (turn 10), as the front straight bends into turn 1, scrubbing off speed slightly.
What’s interesting is that the riders spend a quarter of their time on the brakes, decelerating 1.3 g, and producing 6.8 kWh of energy during the course of a race."

cool info from brembo

I feel that 25% of the time on the brakes is a pretty low, especially considering how much power those motogp bikes put out. I'd personally expect closer to 40-50% of the time being on the brakes since they're either on the brakes or the throttle the vast majority of the time while racing. Then again it is le mans with it's ridiculously long straights.

General rule of thumb... You don't win a race being on the brakes.

If any of us mortals tried riding a MotoGP bike, we'd be on the brakes 75% of the time and they wouldn't work as designed, we'd get fully onto the power 0% of the time, and the tyres wouldn't work either. It might be a wild ride all the way to Turn 1 though

On the contrary. 'On the brakes' is where most races are won.

Ask Valentino Rossi.

It's only if your bike has a significantly faster top end then braking skills are less important. I race my ninja 250, and it is nearly impossible to pass anywhere but on the brakes against the fast riders. They all carry about as much corner speed as possible, all have almost the exact same drive/power coming out of the turns. The only real passing opportunities are on the brakes, or in the draft.

looks like turn 9 is the hard braker.

lol, It was more of a general statement Lane, meaning you gotta throttle up to go fast and stay ahead before you can win. After all, the Brembo data sheet shows they are only on the brakes 25% of the time.
