Getting a new chain and sprocket

I'm in need of a new chain and sprocket and found this kit online
http://www.amazon.com/D-I-D-DKK-013-...h+Sprocket+Kit

I was curious if it would work and if so how good of quality it is. I've heard did is good quality. It doesn't say in the name if its an X chain but mentions it in the description. If this i no good then will someone point me in the direction of a kit that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

I think it would work fine. You can get the chain specs by looking at DID's site, and the 520VX2 is going to be overkill for the 250 (i.e. it should last a good long while if taken care of).

Thanks Alex. You think its a good deal for the chain and sprockets or could i find better? Also i've heard mention of getting a 525 chain should i look for one of them or stick with a 520?

Heavier chains are preferred for more powerful bikes, but 520 is more than enough for the little ninjette.

http://chain-guide.com/applications/...cle-chain.html

It seems that this kit doesn't include the connecting link.

Use safety wire if you use a clip-type.

Take a look at these other options:

Yeah I don't know much about chains so when you talk about clip type I'm not sure what you mean. Can't I just buy a master link?

Your new chain should come with a master link. I will be one of 2 types, rivet or clip. If the master link is rivet type, you just press it on and go. If the master link is held onto place by a clip, safety wire it. After loosing so many clips, I stopped using them all together and just started safety wiring the master links and tossing the clip. ie as pictured below.

Unlikely, I have never seen a new DID chain sold without a master. Should be rivet type in that kit as well.

Please, read this article:

Yes, you can buy a master link only for around $8.
