Wow!

We might get up to half an inch in the Seattle area on Sunday, then high 30's and rain for the forseeable future.

Gonna go out in the garage and measure current draw of the old Widder vest and gloves, then go for a ride (while the weather's cooperative at 31F and dry). Ninjette's alternator is supposed to be good for up to 17A @ 10K rpm. If output is proportional to rpm, then 7K rpm crusing should produce almost 12A.

Guess I shouldn't complain about having to heat the hummingbird feeder with a trouble light. (The dang hummingbirds live in the bushes next to our livingroom window and have forgot to go to Central America for the last few winters).

That blue seacan is 10ft tall I believe. There is two more snowpiles the same height behind the first one.

Naw, they are only forecasting 1-2in. The rest of the week is supposed to be in the mid40's-low50's so it'll be rain and whatever snow fell during the 20's-30's overnight will melt. So I predict ice, and a lot of it.

Now if you are talking the ski resorts, Heavenly is forecasting 3-7in each day over the weekend but nothing for the next seven days. And if I am reading this right, looks like their base depth of 37" is machine made.

Usually by this time of year my folks place at the Lake has their six foot fence buried in snow. They have less than a foot in their yard this year and most of that came down last weekend.

Summer is going to be really bad if the storms don't come soon.

Current draw for the old Widder vest, sleeves, gloves, and a Firstgear controller is about 5.25A at cruising RPM. This works out to about 74 watts at 14 Volts. Stock alternator output appears sufficient!

Life is good. Time for a nice winter ride. Maybe stop somewhere for lunch...
Yeah, a bacon cheeseburger at Stimpys.

I love vacation days when the weather is nice!

I love your perspective on riding, I'm from the other side of the state (Tri-Cities) and if it's dry out, preferably sunny then it's a nice day to ride. Just need to bundle up some more is all! As much as I love riding in summer, there's something nice about riding when it's around 45, it's like the perfect temperature. I can stay warm enough without extreme bundling, but I don't get too warm. But I'll still take a hot sunny summer day over anything lol. Unfortunately I'm at school in the Spokane area and we already got lots of snow last week, now mother nature has decided to give us some more! Doesn't make much difference, tri-cities is about just as bad right now lol. Well enjoy your riding while it's still nice enough out! Hey you've got a KLR the snow shouldn't stop you!

Just got back from lunch. It's actually warmed up to 36F! Had to back down the heated vest/gloves to about an 80% duty cycle. It's a little disconcerting riding out when the cities/county have applied the stripes of the liquid de-icing compound, bit it is nice and dry out here for another day or so. And the bacon cheeseburger was excellent!

Many bikes out and about in the tri-cities area?

I was home last weekend and saw a couple bikes, but I spent most of my time with my girlfriend so I didn't bother taking my bike out of storage for just the weekend lol.

Good thing I took the bikes out on Thursday and Friday (Ninjette) and today (KLR250), because now there's friggin' 2.5" of snow and still coming down! Oh, the humanity! Only s'posed to be less than half an inch, turning to rain tomorrow. We'll see... Been cool enough the last week for the snow to be sticking to the roads. You guys from east coast can bask in your shadenfreud.

Glad I put the studded tires one the cars Thursday evening. Also glad Mother Nature is doing this on a weekend instead of Monday thru Friday.

Yay fun videos from riding in the rain!

This was on 680N during the first day of major rain. Obviously Bay Area drivers are terrible at handling rain after a long drought.

Link to original page on YouTube.

Here's some footage from this past weekend. Heavy rain and strong winds make crossing bridges fun. You can definitely see the wind affecting my riding. I did this 4 times over the weekend...

Snow-induced spontaneous combustion? We don't get that in the northwest.

Had snow on ground Saturday night thru Sunday afternoon. Went for a pleasant-but-short ride on the KLR250 yesterday afternoon after work. Pulled studded tires off my car this afternoon (could have done back on it Monday, but what's the motivation?).

Even though it raises hell transportation-wise, I hope you southerners enjoy the winterland wonderland aspects of your rare snow! Make a snowman! Take pictures!

It's so cold in North Carolina that they are burning cars to stay warm.

Johnstown?!?!?! Holy Eff! I lived in Bedford until February of last year. I'll be going up to visit in mid April (If winter quits by then) We just got over a foot over the course of 24 hours and it's still going. All this white stuff is getting irritating

That's 'cause it rains 362 days a year. The fire never has a chance to get going.
