My front turning signal

ok I did it... i finally dropped my baby and I'm have written her a formal apology and promised her I would fix her. My front left turning signal light has gotten knocked off. The light is not cracked or anything. It just fell off and the wires are disconnected... how do i reconnect the wires. my fingers are not 2 cm wide so I can't put my fingers inside the light to reconnect the wires. any suggestions? I'm 21 in the military and my budget isn't very big. I also would like to know what is the best oil to use when I change it because I have put 1700 miles on my bike and have yet to change it. I know I am a horrible person, but I have been very busy since I bought the bike and the kawasaki place I bought the bike at want to charge me 220 for a clutch something, and a oil change! I am not stupid so a little direction to get me started would be GREATLY appreciated! THANKS! O my bike is a 2011 black ninjette.

also everyone is telling me my stock tires are terrible. I have been advised to go larger and with a different tread pattern. I am a Behavioral health specialist with little to none motorcycle knowledge other than riding, so please talk dumb to me when explaining anything so I can learn lol. If anyone needs medical advice let me know, but anything on that bike I need HELP lol!

Undo the screw holding the lens to the back housing.

Pull the wires through the back housing and connect to the reflector assembly.

Reassemble lens and back housing.

The stock tires aren't fantastic, but as long as you keep them properly inflated (around 28psi front, 32psi rear, measured when cold), and let them warm up a bit before leaning them over too far, they will behave perfectly fine.

No, you don't need to get larger tires to be safer. Yes, you can get stickier tires that provide more ultimate grip when riding the bike more aggressively, but the tires aren't going to be the reason a new rider can ride safely or not.

so...... Did you do the 600 mile service? It sounds like that's what they wanted to do which is...you know....fairly important. Worth $220 important, some might say.

I DID IT!!! didn't need to even take anything off whiterice. I did exactly as you said took me about 3 min no problem. Now my lights work just fine, and it snapped right back on.

so how important? i just changed my oil myself (with a help of a friend) and he did the clutch. only other thing i think i remember the guy mentioning is the bike chain... is that something i could do myself?

I honestly don't know exactly what it entails but I know it's important. If it's just clean/lube the chain you could easily do it yourself but there may be more. It's got to be on the site somewhere, I would be surprised if Alex didn't know.

There's a wiki article, and a DIY thread about what happens at the 600 mile service. Yes, it's possible to take care of it at home without too much trouble, but make sure you have the full checklist.

You will HAVE to do you chain yourself if you wait till service to do it things can go bad. It is recommended to do it every 400 miles. I find it easier to do it in time intervals so i do my chains every 2 weeks. Its cheap and easy to do. For convenience i suggest getting a rear stand. You wont need a super expensive one, the 30 dollar one from harbor freight will do you just fine.

How i do mine is i get it up on the stand and put it in neutral so the back tires can spin. I spin the tire while spraying this stuff:

on the two inside parts of the rollers. After spraying it on i use a chain cleaning brush to scrub the chain, this stuff will remove all the grit and grime. After scrubbing it use a clean shop rag and spin the back tire again and wipe the chain clean. Once done with that you guessed it spin the back wheel and spray the chain one more time with the teflon doing the inside parts of the rollers and let it set up. let it set up a few hours with over night being the best option. takes 10 mins tops.

Ohh i forgot under no circumstance will putting it in first gear and letting it idle on the stands to move the tire for you work out well. Its a very very very bad idea.

The big thing that hangs over the back wheel? Well... There should be a couple of bolts attaching it that you could easily find to unscrew and remove it. Or you could do the newbie way: give it way too much gas, wheelie, and fender chop that mofo!

I have taken off like 6 bolts from the back that i thought would take it off. Needless to say I was highly mistaken, I guess I will just take every bolt off that F**** and see where is goes. I want to customize my bike so that it looks diff. I will definately start a new thread with before and after pics. I also want to be the one that puts in all the work, so I may learn how to DIY everything that pertains to my bike. After I get off work I will go buy that chain brush.. could you pick that up at walmart? Or should I just go to my local bike shop? I get military discount so it really doesn't matter which one I go to. (walmart is closer)

The cheap alternative to buying a kit, search "fender chop".
