New 1987 Ninja 250R owner in Chicago

Hello everyone,

I just picked up a mint, white 1987 Ninja 250R. I currently ride several other bikes and have built several bikes as well - mainly in the custom, chopper and cafe racer space.

I plan on stripping this bike down, parting out everything I don't need and setting the bike up to be a track bike for next season.

I have started combing through tech articles and various forums for the right set up, but any assistance and guidance will be much appreciated. I will be starting a build thread as well as posting about items for sale.

A bit more about myself — I just moved to Chicago and pretty much only care about motorcycles. I make films and videos within the motorcycle scene and have built several bikes.

Previous builds:
1978 Kawasaki KZ750B based chopper (full custom frame)
1988 Suzuki GSX750 pro-street cafe racer (full custom frame)
1982 Honda CR480 sprint bike (partial frame modification)
1975 Yamaha DT250 custom build
2014 Royal Enfield Continental GT custom build
2001 XR650L chopper (full custom frame)

Up coming builds:
2016 Harley Davidson Roadster (mild modification)
1987 Ninja 250R track bike (the reason I'm here

I'm looking forward to interacting with y'all and learning more about this little legend of a bike!
