new member from Cathedral City CA (Riverside County)

Hello all!

I just found this forum and it seems fun and friendly, so here I am. I am a returning rider after almost 20 years (should I admit that?) I did most of my learning by trial-and-error (thankfully no big errors) on a 1989 Honda Hawk GT (650 V-twin). She's long gone but I still miss her. I got the riding bug again a few months ago after talking with a coworker and the next thing I knew I bought a 2007 250R. I had it delivered because the dealer was an hour away by freeway, but when I finally took that "first ride", the feeling was amazing - nervous, yes... exciting, oh yeah!

I've spent a lot of time practicing around my quiet neighborhood. I just completed a MSF BRC last weekend. I never considered myself anything but a new rider (only had the Hawk two seasons) but I am amazed at what I was able to do in the course and what I learned from it. I plan on taking the next level as soon as I can schedule it.

I mainly ride around town or the next town over (Palm Springs) but I am riding - at least right now - usually 5 days a week. I haven't done any group riding (except in the MSF course) and am not really itching to get on the freeway, but after I log some more time and miles I'll probably want to do more than cross-town trips.

KJ - yeah, I'd like to meet up... just want to get a little more time and miles under my belt before I venture outside of my current "comfort zone". I was thinking it might be good for me to take a non-freeway trip and Indio seems a good destination. Let's keep in touch.

I rented an instructor from the advanced MSF course. Concentrated on MY shortcomings, 1 on 1, saved buttload of money with much higher return. Welcome, happy trails bro.

Hi Crissy - Yeah, I've already had a couple of uncomfortable encounters with snow birds... nothing new though, I almost got creamed in PS on a bicycle a while back by some idiot. I'm always "looking for trouble" though! It would be fun to ride with others. I'll be in touch - Thanks!
