The Plan

Alright so I'm going to head down to a dealer tomorrow and offer 10g and my 650 for a Ninja 1000 and Ninja 250. The ninja 250 of course will head to the track as soon as I'm capable of it. It might not work out if we can't come to an agreement, when I was looking for a 250 this dealer quoted me $7,000 OTD for a black one, perhaps they will be more reasonable when there are 3 bikes on the table.

Thoughts?

If you paper is a little longer (near 11 clevelands), you might be able to keep the 650 and sell it for more than the trade in value.

Sooooooo basically you're offering like 16000 for 2 bikes? Isn't the ninja 1000 like 12000 to start out with? I guess that's a good deal!

I would jump on that 250 for $7000. It must be some beast of a 250 for that price.

Just for some reference... I was given a $11,750 OTD price from my dealer on a 2012 Ninja 1000 ABS model.

Sell the 650 separately. Buy the ninjette nao and 1000 when the 650 sells

I say go the opposite way. Buy the 1000 because it sounds like you're in love with it. Then buy the 250 after the 650 sells because if its a track bike, you have more healing up anyways before you can track it up.

Unfortunately there's no ABS available in California so I'm getting the standard 1000 with warranty for 12g.

I was going to offer that to the dealer if he doesn't like it I won't do it but I'd prefer to get a bone stock ninjette that hasn't been crashed, a difficult thing to find if you don't go new.

Anyway in total I would pay 12g for the 1000 and 5g for a new 250. If they want more than that then oh well, maybe I'll check CL

And yea about the price most dealers here in Cali quoted me 6k OTD. This particular dealer quoted me 7k for the black one because he said the black were so popular that they were selling them for $500 more. Where the other $2000 in that price comes from I have no idea. This was back in may 2011

Dude Sean. Get the mid high mount race exhaust from area p with the 18" can! It will be about as loud as my muzzy, but that's really not as bad as the obnoxious slipons you hear.

That's what I'm planning on! Now the question is what's better for racing stock carbs or ecotrons efi

For racing? Carbs because they're allowed in racing organizations

The efi kit would be awesome for track duty (no racing) though. The top end is comparable (maybe better, idk. Haven't been to the dymo yet) and there's smooth torque all over. I wish i had it running before my track day at mid-o, but there's always next season

There is an efi kit made that is all oem parts and is legal for racing made by the guy with the batman leathers... I forget his username. That kit is expensive, but very professional and very well done, using a power commander to tune. It's literally the oem system as a kit to install; sorta intense, but really cool.

Yea it's retarded. I was going to buy an ABS model Ninja 1000 out of state but it's just too much of a hassle

Also, how the **** does the ABS model not meet emissions standards? Stupid

Ah so if I had the ecotrons I wouldn't be able to join a racing league? But if I had the oem TB I would? lol
Could be wrong but if you use oem tbs it should be legal since that is a production bike everywhere else

Interesting, I'll check on it and if it is acceptable I'll do an ecotrons kit with OEM TB

The 7500 mile requirement only applies to bikes that do not meet California emissions. If it's a 50-state bike, that minimum doesn't apply. Most BMW's, Ducatis, and I'm sure a number of other makes now come with that 50-state certification, so it's less of an issue than it once was. The ninjette is still sold as a 49-state bike and a California version.
