Angry Wind blew my bike over

Sitting in work, go on lunch and go to work carpark, my bikes on its right side (winter cover on)

So mad right now.

Right handlebar is bent real bad, theres no play in the throttle now, new areap exhuast got squashed and scratched, Front right indicater is bent out of shape.

Fairing was saved thank god, had a winder cover on. I dont understand how the fairing isnt cracked though, it fell on its side twice apparently, a guy picked it up and came looking for me, and when i got to it it was over again.

that sucks. Would insurance help fix it? I keep full coverage on my bike in case of something like that. Not sure what its like there though.

So the wind is blowing it over, and there's no cover on it? Must be some mighty strong gusts there!

My excess is £700 so it wouldn't be worth it I don't think. Would also lose my no claims bonus. I ordered a handlebar and indicator from tyga performance at £65.

Cover was on, it's a Oxford storm cover, thick and quilted, like a boat sail

Ahh, understandable. Good luck fixing her back up.

Maybe no cover on such windy days from now on....

Ouch. Happened to me in 1977. I decided to abandon the cover after that.

Been there done that; not a pleasant experience. One of mine blew over while I was only a few dozen yards away from it at the time. Nothing on earth sounds like that telltale crunch of plastic and dreams.

That would have been heartbreaking, at least i never got to hear it

So I've got some questions..

My fairing doesn't seem to have any damage. No scratches or cracks, bearing in mind it fell over TWICE. How is this even possible? It had a cover on it but surely that wouldnt protect the fairing from getting cracked under the sudden weight?

Also, this will be the second time i've replaced a handlebar, this time the steering lock was on and it landed on the right handlebar bending it. Could the steering / steering lock be damaged?

Is the right handlebar relitively easy to replace? I've no idea how to adjust the throttle let alone take it off / replace it onto a new handlebar. I was contemplating just taking it to a bike garage to do but something tells me it could be quite simple to do.

Lastly and most importantly.. the bike still runs, but if i turn the throttle to say 6000 revs, the friction from the bent handlebar causes the throttle to stay at whatever revs its been put to, i have to force it back to 0 revs, its effectively cruise control, i could rev it to 8000 revs and let go and it would continue at that speed untill i pysically turn the throttle back down.
Are the cables being stretched possibly? or is it just because of the slight bent in the bar causing friction?

Thanks Guys
