The Perfect Setup
I found this this morning (probably referenced here already) and it looks useful for track setup:
http://www.sportrider.com/perfect-setup My particular issue: the bike was falling into turns, which I could ride around no problem at slower paces but made it very unnerving when trying to hang off of the bike and also hold the needed steering inputs mid corner and at the exit. Ive dropped the forks 10 mm (as much as could be done) in the triple clamps. Will see if its enough at the next tbd trackday. Reducing rear preload will be next adjustment if needed. |

S20 Evos in 110/140 sizes. Front is shorter than tire it replaced, and rear is taller than old tire - it had stock IRCs on it before. The s20 evos really fall into turns more than stock IRCs but that should be expected for a smaller front and bigger rear (now that im a bit more educated on the topic).
Never mind the chassis setup is all from scratch too - its the first time on the track for the bike so its very much a work in progress. Im having fun and learning a ton. |

Hey Dave, just wait until you run your first set up V profile tires.

Those are fun! They fall like mad until you get to the flat part of the profile, then they just stay there.

1) Each change means a balance achieved between two desirable but incompatible features. A rolling motorcycle is nothing more than a bunch of engineering compromises moving all together and in synchrony. There is no way around that trade-off: in order to gain some characteristic, you must lose some. 2) There is no perfect setup for all conditions: that is the reason that keeps racing teams so busy at all times. Any best set-up is only best for some specific conditions (pavement, circuit, weather, competitors, etc.).

That's a good article. Originally from Sport Rider. I've got the original summary page scanned and I kept it on my phone to refer to at the track.
I miss Sport Rider

I picked up this book after talking with a local suspension tuner. Lots of good info and a very easy read.
