Arrow Epic wet ride through a flooded Florida's county

January 11 was a day following a night with record precipitations in Palm Beach county, Florida.

http://www.weather.com/news/flash-fl...y-fla-20140110

We had up to 22" of accumulated rain in four hours, one tornado and three fatalities, sadly.

I had to ride through the county twice that day (North-South), the evening ride was OK, but the morning one was a dangerous nightmare.

Unfortunately, I had no camera with me; here are some pictures taken from the news.

Smart lady on the horse! The intake is well above the water line.

It always amazes me how people in low cars try to drive through flooded areas. Even SUVs tackling spots that have an unknown depth to the water. Stay out of it IMO.

The worst I have seen was the flood of '97 when there was a heat wave right after a snow storm. Wet heavy snow suddenly melted with warm rain. The rivers couldn't handle it.

Very interesting picture, Teri.

Thanks to the news I knew it was a mess before leaving home, so I took the not flooded portions of I-95 and then secondary roads that were high and dry; it took me four times longer to commute.
Still had to go through a flooded road with the exhaust under water and my feet over the side covers of the engine.

Lol, the lady on the horse is awesome! Where do you think she keeps that? Hope you all escaped any damage.

My little town (Falmouth) in 1997.

The town is built in a river valley where 2 rivers meet at the edge. It's was like a cereal bowl full of hillbilli-o's. lol So what's a guy to do? Get in his boat and start rescuing people & pets off their roofs.

Well, I had the kind help of a big van passing me and offering big waves as compliment while I looked like a circus' bear riding that flooded road.

Ninjettes can roll in deeper waters than cars.
Horses can walk in deeper waters than Ninjettes.
It is just a matter of time, ..... oil will be exhausted sooner or later.

Many people own and ride horses on the West portion of the Atlantic Coast of South Florida.

In situations like these, boats beat horses, Ninjettes and cars.

Awesome picture, Chris! .......... It reminds me of New Orleans after Katrina.

IKR!!! No place in town was dry. We took them to a Red Cross Checkpoint, they were then transported to the high school outside of town.

I know; it is sad seeing the wood fires in the news.

We have had no heavy rain since that event, just some when a cold front has arrived.
