So they already come powdercoated huh. I was wondering this because I did not want to have to send them out for powdercoating.

On all my bikes I remove the cover. I like the racer (and the mechanical look) aesthetics of exposed sprockets. The added plus is the ease of cleaning.

Here are pics of my other bike's exposed front sprocket:

Thanks... the pilot power 160's were a very tight fit, so much so, that we ended up going down 3 teeth on the rear sprocket in order to move the wheel back a little bit and gain some clearance.

With the stock sprockets and chain, the tire would rub on the swing arm. Needed to pull the wheel back about 1/2" to get the minimum clearance, 3 teeth lower on the rear sprocket did that and put the adjusters about 3/4 of the way out... should be fine for a while.

She has a few hundred miles on the new setup and loves everything about it, -3 on the rear sprocket made the bike much nicer to drive also. Less revs and no loss in acceleration... for her anyways, 5' nothing and 94lbs... not much to pull around.

You could change gearing sizes to do the same thing. Just another thought.

It's what I did to get lower rpm's on my commute as well. I think I'm a 15/42 now. Prolly cheaper this way too. Up to you.

So I would just have to change the sprocket size then? And can I go 160 on the stock rim?

Coming from the "skinny tire" era, fat tires on low HP bikes are only fashion.

For performance, including racing, you want the smallest tires to do the job. Lighter rotational weight, less steering effort and quicker transition are 3 advantages, and probably less cost as a bonus.

I vintage race, and my 500 2 stroke puts out 84 RWHP. I use a 100 front, and 110 rear. (both on 2.15" rims) And when/if I ever finish my 250 2 stroke vintage racer, it should be around 50 RWHP and I will be using a 90 front and 100 rear.

And the big 1000 vintage super bikes are limited to 140 rear tires, and they are 100 plus HP. So even the stock 130 on the Ninja 250 is more fashion than necessity with 30 to 40 HP.

So if you are out to look cool with fat tires, that's cool. But for performance, fat rim and tire money could be used better elsewhere...

That's my 2 cents.......

A 160 is not advised on a stock rim. A 150 will work in most brands and yes going down some teeth on the rear sprocket will give you some additional chain length to get that 150 some clearance from the swing-arm.

Ok I'll go with the 150 I still like the way that looks. And if I didn't want to change the sprocket size what chain size would I need to get to have more clearance?

I think our bikes take a 106 link chain. If I were you I would order at least a few extra links and cut to fit your application.

Would you sell a single rear vrossi wheel instead of the set? I just can't get myself to need to change my front wheel. I just want to upgrade my rear wheel tire combo.

I don't get the obsession with fat tires either

I did just order a 120/70 front and 190/50 rear though

@wandyhee, another question about the Vrossi rims, do I need to buy a different kind of bearings and bushing or does it use the same as the stock one? Very interested in purchasing a set around December, as an xmas present for myself but need to know as much as possible first.

from my understanding, it's advise to buy different kind of bearing instead of using stock bearing come with vrossi wheels. no complaint about bushing though
