09 Diaphram issue, pics inside. HELP
So I upgraded to a 2011 zx6r 2 years ago, and dropped my 09 Ninja 250r off with my parents. Long story short, they didnt keep it started on a regular basis so I ended up having to tow it back to my place and tear it apart to clean out the carbs. Now, while cleaning the carbs, I found that when I did the needle shim mod a long time ago (like a noob) I didnt seat the diaphragm properly before tightening the screws. Heres what it looks like.
  Now Ive done some research on what to use to fix the small tear, but my question is, do I need to spend $144 for a new diaphragm or is there some way to fix the deformity? IE: soak it in hot water, heat gun, something like that. Any help would be awesome, THANKS!

There is no fixing that with any sort of real reliability, ebay used set of carbs $50-$100

Changing the oil, and running for a very short time, before extended storage gives the engine the best protection from corrosion. As far as the diaphragms go, they are expensive new. As Chris noted, most people get a complete set of used carbs instead - but that's no guarantee the diaphragms will be good either. |

Damit, thats not exactly what I wanted to hear lol I guess Ill check ebay and see what I can find, thanks guys.
And as to why they are so expensive? No clue, its made out of a special nitrile rubber, but I wouldnt assume they cost anywhere close to $140 to make. Just another way for people to make money

Hmmm... How crazy is it to consider putting a more generic set of carbs on the engine for the sake of easier repair?
