Crank but no start
02/250
So I decided to do the valves/clean the carbs and sync them since I had them off. All went well tell it was time to start it. It will crank over but I can not get it to start. Yes I put gas back in the tank as I pulled it off and clean it out I can also see the fuel flowing in to the carbs out of the inline fuel filter. The battery has a good charge and the bike was running before I started this work last night. Any ideas you got I am willing to try it thanks in advance. |

Would start if you did. Spark, fuel, compression. Check for all. How did you sync without a running engine?

Well, if you have ruled out spark and fuel, then the only thing left is compression. The valve adjustment directly affects this. Perhaps you should do as Joshorilla suggests and have at it again. Check that you are using the proper size feeler gauges. When you finish with the adjustment and get the engine going again, you should sync the carbs using a vacuum meter of some sort. This is to account for any imperfections between the intake valve clearances. There are many different ways to do this, the simplest is with a long tube with liquid in it.

So it was just the battery and nothing to do with any of these:

I'm sorry that you feel like that. However our suggestions were sound advice based on the information provided to us. A valve adjustment done incorrectly could lead to a non starting engine. The fix would be to take it back apart, redo the adjustment and put it back together. Also, the OP ruled out the battery in the original post. We on the internet have to assume his ruling to be correct. Love your screen name by the way. Welcome to the site!

No not a troll account at all. I will just ignore you. I quite often come and have a look but I feel no need to post unless I think I can add some value. Thanks for the info that I have taken away with me from the site to date anyway.

Yep. Funny that you only chimed in on this one to say I was just a troll account, ignore him. Way to boost the post count. Just because I have only 1 or 2 posts, dont mean **** it just means I can get what I need from the site without the need to post anything. If I decide to post about the arrogant tone of some of the responses, I am more than free to do so. Just as people are more than free to post arrogant responses.
Who cares what my first post was anyway? Do you troll much? Again, thanks for the info that is already here and what I have taken away with me from reading. |
