Cool The sound of engine?

Hey guys i was just wondering if my ninja has some problems? When i have it in neutral is it suppose to rev alittle or go up and down?

No, but sub 500 rpm range changes are somewhat normal, you kinda have to trust your gut when it's very tiny changes in rpm values. If it idles up and down more than that then something is up. It's not getting a consistent stream of air/fuel mix is the most likely case.

Doesn't sound like anything to worry about, but it probably could use some fine mixture adjustments.

From the factory they are set-up lean at idle, and that can make the RPMs fluctuate. There are adjustments on the carbs, but there are caps that cover the adjustment screws. The carbs need to be off to remove the caps, so it's not easy to make adjustments if they haven't.

Colder temps will make the engine run leaner, as will gas with ethanol. If you can get gas without ethanol it would be worth a try to see if it runs (idles) any better. If temps are fluctuating and the tank is not very full, you can also form condensation in the tank that will make the engine run poorly at times.
