well I am living at Scholfield ATM. Wife doesnt liek the weather over here as much as on the coast (we spent the first 2 weeks here on Waikiki), so we may eventually move. I do like the idea of being closer to the North Shore and lots of twisties on the mountains. Great to meet you guys, are there any rides going on, my only friends here that ride ride a 250cc scooter and a harley, thanks

welcome to the forum!

as for the bike - that's Gary's bike, as is the one in the PM from Kelly unless I missed my mark- you can't go wrong with it!

um, yep that's Gary's bike... and though the price may initially sound a bit high, after you factor in the changes he's made, the mods included are a steal. Even if you don't care for the particular mods, buy the bike and sell the mods you don't want on it and possibly make back the price diff he lists.

That's a well set up bike.

I don't believe so, but ask him to be sure.

I have an AreaP Stainless Steel Quiet Core full exhaust.

oh... just came across this thread. wanted to officially welcome you to the forum.

oh, and yeah the bike has been down once.

back in january or so, i was making a slow u-turn and i slipped on what i think was fresh cut grass. wasn't paying attention i guess. i stopped and caught the bike about 18" off of the ground. i tried to pull it back upright but it was too heavy.... finally i lost my balance and it went to the ground.

the bike didn't go down hard, so the only damage i have to the bike is to the left side crash kit pucks. they are slightly scratched. if i didn't bring it up, it would be hard to notice. however, i bought replacement pucks that i am waiting to put on. i have been putting off installing them, just in case i ever went down again.... knock on wood. there is also a tiny scratch on the gas tank that may have been from my pants zipper. honestly, idk for sure. oh, and a tiny scratch on the left side mirror. not sure how that got there. maybe when i went down? idk.

come take a look at it. i am confident you will be happy with what you see.

no, there is no lane splitting here. unless you are a cop, then you can do whatever the hell you want it seems.

Schofield Barracks no longer has a golf course, that area is now new housing, really nice new housing. But the course across from Wheeler is still open.

I believe he's talking about "snake road", the back road to wailua. watch out... many have died on that road due to over riding their skills when they fail to negotiate a turn.

+1. that is probably where he is talking about. kunia road is pretty much one long straight road.

snake road in waialua heading towards kaena point is pretty dangerous. it is one lane going and one lane coming. even if you perfectly take the turns, it doesn't mean that the oncoming car will do the same. still, it is a popular stretch of road with the bikers and car enthusiasts.

kind of eerie because as you go down the road, you can see make-shift memorials of where people have died.

edit: actually, oahu doesn't have any really good roads to ride. there isn't much to snake road. i think the best is tantalus/round top, but that too is pretty dangerous.

If you are military, there is always Kolekole pass, twisty but not very long. My bike was highsided by the previous owner on that road so watch out. The back side to the Naval magazine I have never ridden on, drove a few times, and it has some twist in it also. I rode tantalus/round top once with sound wave and had a blast, although I did it slow and ticked off the people behind me, but they go over it.
