Hi Chris, how are your 24 cats?

Any noobs needing some help getting to and from the track for their first track day from NE Ohio I do a fair number of days and can usually move a few extra bikes. Fair warning; once you have a taste you may be hooked.
Solon, huh?

Family lives in Hudson but I'm at school at ONU in western OH. Good to see you on the boards.

I'm still totally up in the air. I have no idea where I'll be when this track day happens. Going to try and make it if I can.

Updates for June;

Quote:
Your request to be assigned at the following position has been processed:

Monday, Jun 13, 8:45 AM - 4:30 PM: Mid Ohio - (Performance Track Riding) - PTR Coach
I should get the 14th also without any issue.

Update for the entire season.
In the past twilights were open to I and A riders, but this year may be somewhat different. If you are interested in registering for a twilight, you might want to give them a call directly to make sure you qualify with the new rules.

Can't wait!!!!!

Buying a prepped 250 this Saturday morning. So of course my most local track decides they are going to stay closed for a bit and evaluate for repairs. :P
Looks like I'll be making more road trips with the new bike. Wave if you blast past a 250 at Mid-O. LOL

I'm seriously getting the itch.
I'm moving over and leaning off when I take turns in my 4runner. This probably isn't healthy.
Is it go time yet!?

Take the driver"s side door off your 4runner. It'll help you with body positioning.

This trip to Mid Ohio is going to be one of the highlights of my summer. My brother in law had a stroke and I may have to cancel a few planned trips this year, but Ohio is not one of them. I cant wait to try out the new track (or even ride on the street at this point!) and just see if I can improve my ability. This trip will be one for the record books. Hope everyone can make it out

I have not signed up yet either. I wanted to know what level/group we are planning on riding. I think we would be OK with "I" group but I would like for "The Reactor" to give us his input since this is his home court.

^^ I group is a mix bag of skill levels; you get everyone from "I just rode N last weekend for the first time and don't want to take the class again" to "I'm a card carrying AMA racer. I'm supposed to be in A but I want to do some passing practice". It's really going to depend on when the track day is.

A week day in the beginning of the season should be fine, but a weekend towards the end of the season, not so much. If you can get a session that's not packed, the I group is an awesome place.

I remember Chris saying don't do the lowest group because the drills and all that are mandatory, you cant just go ride the track. But ill let him chime in, I figure whatever is above n00b group if what I would sign up for.

I'm thinking I group as well, for the reason Jay stated.

Haven't been able to pop for registration yet... money is tight right now, but hopefully that will turn around soon. I'm committed to the trip. Just remains to be seen how I fund it. Might have to sell a kidney or something.

Well im glad im not holding this train up haha! I have an account setup just for this type of stuff, I just physically have to go pull the money from it. June is looking pretty awesome for me. Trip to the dragon the first week, then Ohio, maybe louden the week after, and barret Jackson comes to Mohegan at the end of the month.

In case you guys haven't been following closely... big changes are coming to mido. As of right now there will be skill drills in ALL groups, even Advanced. Some will be mandatory and others optional, the details have not been finalized yet. I will be up there 2 times for meetings this month to hammer it all out, so more to come on that.

Like JenningsGP, Nelson, Palmer and other tracks, each has their own thing that makes it unique. Mido's thing is being "fast by the book" and being a "natural" track. Past that, there are 3 corners on this track that are VERY challenging. The keyhole, carrousel and turn 8 corners are no joke, while playing with your throttle control, vision and skills to address camber changes mid corner. You can see the top speed of your bike on the back straight and you WILL learn something about you and your brakes on the setup for turn 7.

My initial gut reaction would be too tell you to sign up for N the first day and I the second day. The main reasons I say to do N the first day is, mido is also very moody track. It can be very slick in the morning and then turn wicked fast in the afternoon. Or... the cars may lay down thick patches of rubber in the corners . And good lord... don't let it rain because mido is a track that will pretty much empty in the wet. Some of the coaches won't even ride it in the wet. Either way, you're making a very long haul, to ride a new track for multiple days, with a WELL above average coaching staff, with classroom time that is FREE. Take advantage of it! And there is nothing wrong with riding conservatively on day one.

I will know more after this Sat.'s coaches meeting.

I may bring both bikes (if there is room). I would love to run the bigger bike round that track plus it cant hurt to have a spare incase one of us bin's it. I like the idea of doing N00B on day one for the fact of feeling faster than I really am compared to some of the group while learning a new to me track, then running I on day 2 to get a good slap of reality!

I'm no longer 100% in as taxes have hit me much harder than expected but I do intend to get there if it is at all possible

Damn, I let the government hold onto my money and collect their interest. In return they usually send me a check for 4-5k every year......no complaints.

I got hit for an extra $6,000 myself. We made lots of $$ this year but the government is brutal is what they want. Even with the deductions for mileage, improvements to the apartment, house, vehicle repairs and equipment write offs, we still got hammered! Im glad we put a good % away but sending that out to the IRS is still going to hurt! Well I hope all of you can still make the trip, $125 a day plus gas, tolls and food wont cost all that much if we all spit the cost. I can bring extra food and we can camp. So $250 for the days and another $100 for food and fuel should not be too hard for each of us to swing. I would hate to have someone miss out on this chance to meet and ride together because of less than $500.

Logistics really depend on how many people, how many bikes and how much gear.

I'm perfectly fine driving myself and bringing my own bike (I get 30+ mpg even towing), but due to the size of my car I can't haul any more than that.

If we consolidate hauling, we need to think about the logistics of getting bikes and gear in the same place at the same time. Also need to look into toll costs. I found out the hard way that you can get hit really hard simply by towing a trailer (like more than $60 to cross the GW bridge). It might make more sense to just convoy.

Per in a bottle then make sure you throw it out... Don't mix up the pew with your other beverages.

Estimation is critical. Bottle size must be chosen carefully in that situation.

OK,
I really hope that Mid Ohio has working restrooms! I sweat so much that urine is not a huge issue no matter how much I drink.

When It comes to Logistics, We can fit 3 bikes on my Trailer and another in the bed of the truck along with plenty of gear. I brought 3 bikes and all my gear (no camping) to Palmer with loads of space to spare. Since I have the truck and Jan and Andy are both located on my route to Ohio, I really don't have an issue with loading at my house then getting Jay then Mr Fist. Again this comes down to how many people and how many bikes we need to move. Should the final total be just the three of us, we could just load sequentially. Me then Jay and finally Andrew unless my geography is off. I have not yet mapped out Andrews secret lair. We can split the tolls and gas but it will be a little cramped in the cab of the truck. We can share the driving and there is enough room in the back for someone to sleep if necessary. Let me know your participation list and thoughts on loading. I would like to take both Ducs but if we need the space I will just bring the little one and we can all save by riding together. I would not think any more than 3 would be comfortable for such a long ride in my truck but we will make whatever is necessary happen!

I'm way south of you guys... and it's MUCH better to get across the river on 84 than deal with the city with that rig.

I'm here, more or less:

PS: You may not legally tow a trailer on the parkway... Rt 15 is therefore not usable.

Looks like I could scoop up Jay in the B-port then head north on 8 till we meet you. We could continue up 8 till 34 then to 84. Of course you would know your turf better and could make a route we could take. We really should meet for lunch one day and discuss all 3 of us. I will be solo on this trip as I believe you will also (Andrew) but Jay may bring a friend. We should work this out.

There are no less than 3 working separate working restrooms and portables are strategically placed where walking to the restroom is far. There is a large bathhouses with separate mens/ladies showers as well.

There is not a shortage of facilities.
