I am in for the track walk! It would help more after the first day or before we even get to ride the track. Walking Palmer really shows you why you do some of the things you do there. You cant really appreciate the entire track while running as fast as you can go! I will be bringing the 999 this time, seems like the big end is the cause of the clacking sound my bike is making! Looks like it will be a well built 916 when I am done!

Excitement building, I have begun the packing process. I will stop and see what Cycle Gear has in stock for tires today. I think my current tires will be ok for the 2 days but I would rather have deep tread incase the "R" word happens! I think if I have new tires available then there is no chance for wet while if I dont have them I will be sure to need them! Oil change in progress and checking all the other things prior to loading---Come on Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!

It is NOT going to rain. Right now it's calling for PERFECT weather, with a 50/50 possibility of a passing thundershower Tuesday afternoon.

The forecast will have to deteriorate a whole lot for me to bring rain tires... and I've got slicks.

Andrew, I have learned much about the surface of mid-o in the wet (and dry for that matter). As a friend... DO NOT ride this track on slicks in the wet. If you want to throw on some other tires from my trailer, feel free. Your more than welcome.

Otherwise, on street tires the track is fine in the wet BUT.... you need to follow me (or another coach) for a few laps to basically learn the wet line. I can tell you for 100% certainty, it's NOT what you think it might be.

I'm not worried. Wunderground shows just one spike on Tuesday afternoon and if that happens I'll probably just sit out the session. I've had enough wet weather already this year... 2 out of 3 days have been soaking wet.

Keeping an eye on the forecast. If it deteriorates no biggie... I just chuck the rain tires in the truck.

OK since all the mystic chants have been made, and the weather VooDoo man agrees, and I believe I had a sign this morning that all is/will be well with the world--I am not buying tires. I will run my Angels and if I happen to burn them out, I will take the "take offs" Chris so kindly offered. I will just have to sit out should the worst happen.

The loading process has begun and making the call of what to bring and what to leave is causing much distress. I am used to being way over prepared and leaving necessary things behind while I know that others will provide and share, is slowing my thought process.

I plant to head out to Jays house at 6AM and should arrive at 8AM at the latest then we should have Andy on board by 9:30. The rest is all just details. This trip is going to be incredible and I cant wait to hang out with such a great group of guys and ride another awsome track! The clock is ticking and excitement is growing. Come on Sunday!

Would be nice if you could move that up a bit... getting there late when you have to be up and at 'em early is no fun. A theoretical 9:30 departure from here could have us unloading and setting up camp after sundown (which is at 9). Maybe not likely, but certainly possible.

In theory it's 8.5 hours from here. That's if you never stop and don't encounter any issues at all. A lifetime of travel tells me that it never, ever works out that way. I'll even put my money where my mouth is, and bet you five bucks we won't be out of here by 9:30 if that's what you're planning on.

Maybe it's just me being an old fart, but better IMHO to take the pressure off and have time when we get there to unwind, socialize, etc. I really don't want to end up having to unload stuff and get it all sorted in the morning. Mornings are for a shower, coffee, breakfast, mental preparation, gearing up and rider's meetings (hint, hint).

Certainly not the end of the world if we do get a late start... after today I'll be in full vacation mode and relaxation is the name of the game. Get here when you can. All my stuff will be in the driveway ready to go.

Weather forecast is deteriorating a tad for Tuesday but going to be perfect Monday. Keeping an eye on it. SO glad I picked up those rain tires....

I am pegging your trip around 10hrs give or take...

Unloading in the dark aint bad at this track. However, the issue of putting up a tent in the dark is no fun for me.

Im with Andy on time but its your truck and everything so im not going to badger too much. I think being able to leave my place for 7 would be ideal, andy is about an hour from me, prob a little less. Leaving his place by 8-830 I think should give us a decent amount of time.

My take offs... I have a few sets.

Fat man power cups... Good for a couple of track days (120/180)
Various q3's - Mostly 120/180 sizes
1 rear gpa 190 (good for N group or experienced rider, summertime, dry street use)

Please use what you need or imma sell them for $20 a tire. I don't wanna take em home.

Alrighty. I couldn't get my bike running right. The issue in the valves is proving to be new motor worthy

With that said I'll be showing up on sunday night to ride both days. I'm thankful I'm able to ride with everyone and I'm looking forward to learning a lot!

Safe travel to all this weekend! Ben, glad you will be with us both days. Sorry to hear about the issues with your bike but you will have a bike and plenty of track time anyways! Jay and Andy, Sent a PM to you to sort out departure times and final details. My wife just finished rolling 60 spring rolls for us and she will be firing up the Stick rice in the morning! We will be well fed if nothing else. Chris, I would love to pick up one of the take offs you have. My 999 takes a 195/55 for the rear but they do use a 180 at times. I would gladly pay $20 for a useable replacement. Tick tock time to leave is rapidly approaching!

Forecast update:

Monday: Could not possibly be better. PERFECT.

Tuesday morning:Could not possibly be better. PERFECT.

Tuesday afternoon: 30+% chance of a thunderstorm 12-3 pm. 80+% chance of a thunderstorm from 3-6 pm. They're calling for total rainfall of only .14 inches, so that means a passing storm, not constant rain. Could be just a shower and then the track dries.

Summer forecasts change fast, and I could always just sit out the last two sessions if it does start coming down, but at this time I'm planning on bringing the rains.

If it does rain on us, I think people should start calling me "rain man." I'm batting 1000 so far this year. Those rain tires are, in retrospect, one of the best purchases I've made in a long time.

Update

Track Difficulty Mode: HARD

Guys, I hurt my leg (took a kick to the leg in TKD class making the videos with my son). If we were riding today, I couldn't.

I should be good to go for Mon. & Tues. Although I KNOW... it will be sore. I will keep you up to date. Yes, I am still coming, nothing is changing right now.

I went over the handlebars when I botched a small drop-off right after a berm and my bike desided to rapidly stop on a large boulder. Like actually flew.

I'm kicking myself because I know I could have handled that differently and either a) half cleared the boulder to avoid getting launched and had a less severe crash or b) rode it out and barely avoided the boulder and pooped my pants. I was riding a little tight and was working on loosening up that lap.

I gotta check over the bike, but I'm totally ready to ride again!!! I want another crack at that section of trail. I 'm already sore though. Shoulder is swollen and stiff.

Weather is looking good for Tuesday so far, they lowered the rain chance to 20% .

So how does this go and watch/hang out thing work? I have never been to this track, so don't know where to go/where to park etc. Is it hanging out in the garage area the whole time or is there places for people to watch the track (like bleachers or a grassy area or something)?

Enter at gate 3, stop and sign in at the security station and head down toward the tower and find a place to park (there will be plenty near the garages). Walk the 50ft to garage 12 and your good from there. You're free to go anywhere we can go aside of on the hot track surface. Basically... don't cross any fences.

You can watch from the tower (4th floor), one of the many sets of bleachers around the track but my favorite spot is around turn 8 (Madness) on the grassy knoll. You can even come down to cold pit row or go into the infield via the turn 1 bridge.

I got ya a chair in our pits. See ya there!

Leaving in 2hrs... still a lot to load. I will be packed and stacked. 4 bikes and a small 4wheeler if I can make it fit.

Pick up my slack postin' for the next couple of days. My next check in will be from the track!

Safe ridin' and safe travel's ya'lls!
