damn, the flea market thing is a good idea, I'll definitely look for some cool looking patches when I'm there even though it's not really my thing. I doubt they would cost much and there are some good artists in my area.

I like the idea of the flea market....but do they sell things of high enough quality? It would be tested by the elements....just a thought. I have no idea if it's true or not, I haven't been to a flea market in a while, mainly because I'm not a hipster gypsie

Anybody with a programmable sewing machine can technically make them, depends on the operators proficiency

Some of the best things I own have come from the flea market. From my experience with flea market vendor made goods, the sun is the enemy. Seems to fade bad because of cheap dyes.

My mom has made some with her embroidery machine. It takes a ton of time to "critique" the image (going in on the computer and basically touching every stitch to ensure proper placement) and also to stitch on the machine itself.

But my point is that an embroidery shop should be able to do it or point you in the first right direction. You can go to a fabric or craft store and they might have a "business card" board to find someone local too.

Custompatches.net did some nice work for me. They will send you a proof patch before you pay. Not sure how they would do something that intricate.
