Raising the tail?
Are any aftermarket dog bones available that lift the rear, without going to adjustable links?
I'm a fan of fewer moving parts. Curious if these are available... I'd like it to go up an inch or two. Zach |

If you have the older 2007 and before bike, you can just install the 08+ 250 shock and you'll sit higher by a bit, and you can adjust the preload.

I've got a 300 shock on her right now.
Namely, she feels small and I'd like to raise the tail... and at a later date put a Ninja 500 front end on her, as I've read that raises the front about 1 1/2 to 2 inches too. |

shorter dogbones
be warned though, you can raise it too much personally my 250 setup is insanely aggressive. I raised the rear a bit and then lowered the front a lot. It didn't make the bike feel one bit bigger but my back has noticed

I want more legroom on my 09 250. I just did 2089kms in 2 days and my legs cramped early in the trip. Anyone try those dog bones above?

New links won't affect legroom. To do that, you'd have to lower the pegs or raise the seat. Safest thing would be to have an upholstery shop re-contour your seat to raise you up an inch or so.

You're right. Sorry for the stupid mistake. I have a Corbin seat on my bike which robbed me of some much needed legroom. I will be contacting Corbin to see what they can do. Thanks.

I was attempting to figure something out for my bike, its an '08. I crashed this weekend losing the front and too often i felt like there was not enough weight on the front end. I was thinking raising the rear about an inch would help with the geometry. I have .80 springs in the front and a GSXR shock for the rear.

You could probably drop the front a little as well, a little up front and a little in the back IDK? whatever works

i know it is suppose to help, but i had no confidence. i guess i have a year to ponder the issue and make some tweaks to the bike.

what do you think kept you from having the confidence to get on the gas earlier? was the front unsettled when turning in fast? were you chasing someone quick and it made you charge corners? in the corner you crashed on, do you think you would be able to make your turn-in happen faster? that way you can get down quicker which means you can get on the gas sooner? i know trailing into the turn makes it feel smoother coming down but you're just robbing yourself of time on the throttle when you wait all the way to the apex to get back on it. and trailing in that far really puts a lot of strain on the front end. typically, once you are all the way leaned over and wide open, it's pretty hard to lose the front from underweighting it. i have wheelied out of corners on the 636 more times than i would have cared to. overweighting it with too much brakes, or simply not enough gas though.... now we're talking lowside material

The next session I went out, i was going through a double left and the front slipped again. Not sure how I did not low side there, but i kept it up.

Found these today...
http://bluecollarbobbers.com/product...s#.VA8JM2Oa8vo Supposed to lift the rear an inch to inch and a half. Anything cheaper out there? $96 is a bit more than spending money... Zach |

Not aware of anything, but it's a simple part, so my solution is to make them.
If there is enough interest I can make more than one set. I would need eye to eye length you'd want. Quote:

I cant recall the site off hand but theres another guy who makes them in different lengths for like 20 bucks. I got the 1.25 lift since i bought the gsxr shock since everyone claimed it lowers the rear by an inch. I surely have more than a .25 lift on it, im going to raise my front .25 or .5 since the front feels a bit twichy at low speeds.

You'd almost want to have some links made in several sizes and try some different options to see what works. Unfortunately changing links is more work than adjusting ride height in a premium shock. |

But 20 minutes of my time is worth not spending the addition $500+ to me. Im not going to race, just do track days. I think raising my front the little extra will help, the bike felt great at my last track day anyway. I should have went with a 1.00 raise, but i wont complain about the additional height since im tall and that gives me alittle more clearance.

I'd be curious who does them for $20...
Namely I'm not sure what length center to center to ask for to get the lift. Zach |
