Removed the fairings for the first time.

Changed out spark plugs and flushed and replaced coolant.

Also cleaned the bike for the first time, simple green is magical.

A few sprays and a rag and the thing was the cleanest its ever been.

Rode over to the physical therapist's, felt the difference in properly inflated tires. How did I not notice how low the psi had gotten?

Hahaha, I'm flexible. Let me figure out my work situation in the next month or two, and get back to you on that, as I'm currently in Southern California.

12 000 km valves adjustement done... They were all too tight by a lot, happy that i didn't waste time doing them... Changed the plugs, were running on the lean side of the force...

Next, the fun part...
Installed a nice Area P 18" quiet muffler, K&N drop in filter, Dynojet Stage 2 jet kit, removed the kleen air system with the slingshot racing block off plate. The less happy part, I wrote the wrong adress when I ordered the long idle mixture screw, so I think they got lost...

Wow, it's still a 250, but it's a hoot to ride, never thought that thing could pull this much better to the redline... And the sound, way better that the OEM... Now just have to try to get rid of the popping noise...

That sounds pretty cool to me. Post pics when you finish, would love to see it.

I like the way the 300 exhaust looks personally.

Have you had to do anything or is it a simple "plug and play" from one pipe to the next?

I like the 300 one too.

Adjusted the idle but now it's all over the ****ing place when I ride.

At least it doesn't stall out when I downshift from high RPMs.

Reinstalled the MGP Growler and a modified 8" baffle, which drops another 6# of weight, and opens up the exhaust considerably over stock. However, with the baffle it's no longer 'stupid loud'.

Click picture for more pics and writeup.

The growler is probably the loudest muffler for the bike. But I love it, it always puts a smile on my face when I turn it on.

Don't get me wrong, I'll pull the baffle in a heartbeat when I head out to the track, but for 'civilized' riding around town (read: trying to not be a hoodlum and not piss off my neighbors when I fire up the bike to head to PT at 0530 every morning...), I needed a quieter solution. Yes, a full Area-P will stay on the 'would like to have' list until I can convince SWMBO that I need it, but I'm going to have to get back to the mainland and get some serious track time in before that becomes a real option.

I just repacked my GSXR muffler yesterday and re-installed the lost stem-bolt. :|

Got a ride back up to the shop today, so I could ride her home and it feels SO good to be back on 2.

I will post some pics soon. I can't seem to load from my phone to this site. the exhaust gasket needs to be replaced but the part # is different for the 250 and 300. I will look into that soon but for now the old gasket is good enough. You will need to use 300 passenger pegs in order to mount the canister to the peg bracket. it seems to be slightly louder also.

Yeah the puller is a big help to have around, lol.
I always put a small amount of graphite on the output shaft and key way before I put them back together, makes breaking it free easier the next time around

And I have to agree with you. 3rd time around and up things just go along smoothly. The more frequently you work on or rebuild bikes the easier things get unless it's a bike you're not familiar with. I hate when you run into those bolts that are bound or break off at the head. That slows things down greatly lol.

This isn't today, but this is the list of things I did to get my bike to pass MD state inspection.

-New handlebar
-New clutch and brake levers
-New brake pedal
-New rear fender
-Messing w/turn signal wiring so it wasn't hanging loose in the front
-New FORKS (ahhh)
-New front rotor
-New brake pads on both wheels
-Throttle cable adjustment
-Throttle housing adjustment
-Realigning the front wheel
-New brake/tail light
-Brake pedal switch spring adjustment
-New bar ends
-New throttle and grip
-Glued windscreen (twice)

after a LOT of time spent working on the bike by myself (who can afford a shop these days) and a lot of money spent on new parts and used parts, I finally passed state inspection. YAY!!!!!!!!
