2014 concorse burnt +side battery cap

So the bike almost has 7k miles on it and last week it started flashing low batter volts at me. Well I take it on a ride and looking at the volts they stay at 14.2 this is normal. So I use it a few more times and then it starts flashing it once more so I figure the batter is going out even tho its less then a year old. Got the bike 5-1-15 ish so I pull out the battery and I find this?

Loose connection? Was the screw tight?

It looks like it was loose and arcing.

Battery tender in top shape? It is that time of year and all, if in doubt check it with a meter. Since you got it open, you can also check the regulator as well to ensure the voltage coming back to the battery is within spec.

If not either of those things, check the main fuse and starter wires for looseness.

Arizona no battery tender lol. The volt meter reads 12.6 volts on it. The bike is saying its at 12.4 I will need to test it with the bike running.

Yup, this. Could be a bad R/R over volting the battery.

Or just simple a cruddy connection, although it looks clean!

So I hooked up my hand held volt meter and went for a ride its keeping the battery at a set 14.6 volts but the volt meter on the dash reads 14.2

0.4 volt loss through all the wires and the circuitry in the display isn't bad. It's fine.

Your DMM may not be calibrated correctly either. I wouldn't worry about it.
